November 13, 200322 yr Firstly I will say how superb the PMDG 737NG is to "fly" in FS2004.BUT! The PMDG Boeing 737NG is a simulation right? Therefore you would expect to find some way of SAVING the "in-flight" configuration (as one can do with other aircraft in FS2004) to enable one to go about ones other lives ie going to work, sleeping, going to the pub etc.I read an earlier thread containing a rather pretentious remark from someone at PMDG saying that they hadn't included a way of saving the inflight config of the 737NG as they wanted it to be a "real as it gets" and "real pilots don't pause for breaks.." or words to that effect. That's great! But this is an ADD-ON for a Microsoft GAME not a fully-fledged Flight Simulator and I would like to see PMDG include some way of saving the 737NG settings and config so those of us with a life outside of our Flight Sim can go about it and return to the PMDG 737NG at a later time rather than having to ditch a perfectly good flight because something REAL interrupts what we are doing.I have "flown" in a number of real Flight Simulators during my RAF training. All of these allowed you to save a configuration EXACTLY so you could return to it later and continue.Sorry guys - has to be said. SUPERB aircraft but please consider including a SAVE CONFIG function next time you update it before I pull my remaining hair out!RegardsAdam MooreLondon UK
November 13, 200322 yr Well before you loose all your hair Adam, PMDG have not said anything like that, at least I am not aware of such a remark. The issue is being addressed but is very complex and will involve much modification so do not expect this before the 800-900 release (iff all goes well of course). So to answer your question, PMDG are very aware of this needed feature to make *us* happy ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 13, 200322 yr Author Hi RandyThat was a quick response!I am trawling through this forum trying to find the original message - it was definitely on here - I searched for an answer a few weeks ago when I had to close Flight Sim to edit some music work and went back into the flight only to find the 737NG back in "ground" mode.If it's in-hand then I will have to wait patiently (or buy a brand new PC specifically for PMDG/FS2004 - not an option coming up to Xmas!).CheersAdam
November 13, 200322 yr Well this has been discussed internally also and everyone pretty much agrees this is a needed feature but like I said above, it will take some major changes but can be done. Trust me, you are not the only one missing this ;) [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 13, 200322 yr I have realised that this isn't possible with the NG, actually, it isn't possible with most airplanes I've flown in FS9....so it isn't a problem restricted to only the NG.However, yesterday, I was doing a flight from KEWR to KSEA with AS11. About halfway across, FS had a crash to the desktop. I have AutoSave installed and working properly.....This morning, I chose the flight and started up FS. As expected, I was back at FL350, with the MCP showing 10000FT, the autopilot off, and a whole bunch of other things off. No problem....I paused, changed the MCP alt. to 35000, put the speed to .78, turned on the Autopilot, clicked ALT. hold, turned on the AutoThrottle, and clicked on the speed button and got the airplane to be stable at FL350 at M.78. Now for the problem.....I had the route saved....I tried to enter it....the FMC wouldn't accept it. OK.......I tried to enter the next waypoint in the legs page....I keep gettting INVALID ENTRY.As a matter of fact.....I couldn't enter ANYTHING WHATSOEVER into the FMC.....its impossible to program. Now, I understand that FS9 doesn't save panel states properly, and I wish the PMDG staff good luck in figuring out that little problem. But at least, one should be able to re-program the FMC so that you can continue with your flight. Is that a known problem? Is there a fix for this in SU2?
November 13, 200322 yr Author Hi AnthonyYou have highlighted my main concern - yes it's easy enough to get all the buttons lit up again after a shut-down but that FMC just ignores any attempts to program it!I hope PMDG are already aware of this issue and how important it is for people using their product and will implement some "fix" in their next long-awaited update for this aircraft.CheersAdam
November 13, 200322 yr Ah but this aspect (FMC INIT)while loading HAS change for SU2, just wait and see ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 13, 200322 yr Author RandyYou are SUCH a tease! My mother warned me about men like you;-)RegardsAdam MooreROLL-ON SU2!
