November 20, 200322 yr Is the CWS button Regards,Gary Andersen HAF932 Advanced, ASUS Z690-P D4, i5-12600k @4.9,NH-C14S, 2x8GB DDR4 3600, RM850x PSU,Sata DVD, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB storage, W10-Pro on Intel 750 AIC 800GB PCI-Express,MSI RTX3070 LHR 8GB, AW2720HF, VS238, Card Reader, SMT750 UPS.
November 21, 200322 yr Yes, it is control wheel steering. CWS is in essence a form of autopilot that takes pilot inputs, and then allows the pilot to let go of the control column and the plane maintains the attitude and bank the plane had when the pilot let of of the column. There are more technicalities, but I am not qualified to explain, so I will let an expert (Randy? ;-);-)) tell you about those =)
November 21, 200322 yr Hehe hey you were doing a fine job ;) Think FBW for a boeing, it's not as complex as the airbus'technology but the aircraft will hold PITCH or ROLL inputs (Roll under 6 degress rolls level), the NEW MANUALS that are coming will detail everything you need to know..Oh and this was not possible in FS! Wait till you try the impossible in SU2..........................[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 21, 200322 yr No way! Randy are you serious? Is CWS modelled in SU-2?JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
November 21, 200322 yr >Oh and this was not possible in FS! Wait till you try the>impossible in SU2..........................It is amazing, really handy for those approaches where the controller tells you to expidite your descent. Just press CWS on the MCP and pitch down....woosh!!
November 21, 200322 yr >No way! Randy are you serious? Is CWS modelled in SU-2?>JohnThats a big roger, and affirmative, and yes ;-) CWS is modeled in SU2 and it is goooood :D
November 21, 200322 yr Yep! Fully modelled!! And I might add not like anything you have ever tried before, when you pitch to 12 degress say, it will HOLD, and just how it's done is simply incredible, this one factor alone has made flying this sim incredible for me personaly. So if you are in CMD ALT HOLD or HDG HOLD and hold pressure on the controls (either for pitch or roll) for a few seconds the AP will revert to CWS just like the real thing![h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. November 21, 200322 yr Or went going thru turbulent air and you don't want the airplane to pitch up and down like crazy... Best,Bruno Francescoli.
November 21, 200322 yr >Or went going thru turbulent air and you don't want the>airplane to pitch up and down like crazy... >>Best,>Bruno Francescoli. That too.
November 21, 200322 yr Hi,Who said that it was not possible? Whoever it was must not have known about the PSS A3xx. Their fly-by-wire simulation makes hand flying that plane more or less like CWS as I understand it. If I'm mis-understanding the CWS I still think it proves that it's not TOO hard or certinally not IMPOSSIBLE. :) Maybe I am missing something though.-Shaun
November 21, 200322 yr Well I won't get into the PSS FBW modelling but have you EVER seen a BOEING in flight sim that models CWS????????? Maybe you are missing something? If it is that *easy* why are there no others?[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 21, 200322 yr I'm just saying, CWSish functionality. If PSS saw fit to model that type of behavior, it can't be THAT hard. These are the same guys who have Boeing planes that lack something as basic as a ROUTE page in the FMC. That's all I have to say about PSS. :D As far as Boeings with CWS, no, I haven't seen one. Actually though now that I think about it, I *think* I saw a freeware Dash-8 panel that had some kind of CWS a long time ago. Don't quote me on this as I'd have to look. I haven't used this panel in ages. Key words here are I THINK... :Dbtw, never said easy. Just not impossible. Nothing much is ever easy or as u put it *easy* in FS. :)Also I did not intend to put down the plane. Please don't take my post the wrong way.-Shaun
November 21, 200322 yr YES, you are right. The freeware Oleksiy Frolov Dash 8 has TCS, Touch Control Steering. Essentially, you set the autopilot, push a button on your joystick (brakes for example) and the autopilot goes into TCS mode. You apply bank or pitch and the a/c holds that there. Very cool and very usefull on approach!Joe G.
November 21, 200322 yr No Shaun I did not take you the wrong way ;). I was just stating that many in the flight sim comunity have said that CWS done right like it's on this bird was impossible (The fact that this is the very first Boeing airliner to have it shows something) FBW is also different since it is the only mode for the Bus (the true logic for the BUS is much more complex than CWS)...............[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
