November 24, 200322 yr I am trying to find the BEST and most REALISTIC, addon for MSFS 2002/2004. The main thing I really want is a full working overhead panel, FMC(FMGC). I was looking at PSS, Wilco, and PMDG. So All of you who own the 737 TNG, how good is it? I have been trying to find reviews on it but I have not found any as of yet. Any of your Oppinions will help. Thanks, David
November 24, 200322 yr David,This is not a add-on panel, it is approaching a full sub-sytem aircraft envirorment for MSFS. If you want to follow the complete Boeing checklist/envirorment, then this is the aircraft/panel system for you.Since I have over 3000 hours in the USAF Kc135 I can tell you this is about as close to "AS Real As It Gets" in the FS2004 simulation as possible to date. This a GREAT piece of software, but don't expect it to be the kind of aircraft/panel that you can just load and go as some simmers would like it to be. Follow the systems checklist and then go fly one of the best panels in FS9.I can't say enought good things about the PMDG 737NG other than we all are looking forward to the even better panel after the SU2 patch.Enjoy ONLY for serious virtual pilots; Half measure pilots don't apply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bob Johnson
November 24, 200322 yr Yes, PMDG is looking like a serious simmers last hope. I was hoping PSS would come through with their just released patch but as you can see from the threads...major disappointment (and that is an understatment). My hope rests with PMDG now. Eric
November 24, 200322 yr Bob you said:"This is not a add-on panel, it is approaching a full sub-sytem aircraft envirorment for MSFS."That is what I am looking for. I have been sim flying for over 10 years now. I Really am looking for a "Real" aircraft, well as real as it can be simulated."If you want to follow the complete Boeing checklist/envirorment, then this is the aircraft/panel system for you."I used to use checklists but I stopped after having to skip things in the list. its like making an apple pie, without the apples...So This is the kind of report I was looking forward to. Also how good are the sounds? And what is the SU2?
November 24, 200322 yr SU2 will be the latest update for the 600/700 release. There have been some issues with the current version of the software but nothing to be discouraged by. Yes, there are issues with the software but will be fixed up with the release of SU2.I've been using Flight Sim for about 10 yrs aswell and so far this has been the most realistic add-on for FS ever.Personally I'm looking forward to the release of the 800/900 series. I'm planning on building my simpit around the 800. TCAS will also be added in this release.Regards,
November 24, 200322 yr David,The PMDG 737 is terrible: It just won't let you leave the computer! :-)It's the absolutely best simulation ever made for MSFS! I've flown the real thing (737-700) and the sounds in the -PMDG are very accurate (not all of them are possible to simulate on the current FS, but many!). Personally I like to do my own engine sounds. The "roar" sound of full throttle for example as well as the cockpit fans and electrics noises. I have also made my own sounds for the GPWS callouts (2500, 1000, 500 etc...) which I recorded from a real SAS 737-700 flight. I think that the SU2 will change the GPWS sounds...(?) The systems are not complete, for example the lower center screen (with mainly engine instruments display and flightcontrols display) is missing, BUT don't lose your hopes! I believe (and know) that more systems will be simulated in the coming versions of the PMDG 737, i e the 800/900's and BBJ versions. Some probably already in the SU2.With all respect to other developers, the PMDG 737NG is the best.Regards/Bear
November 24, 200322 yr Oh man! I can beleve it is a terrible addon! Especialy if it won't let you leave the computer! There is one thing I truly like about PMDG. They allow you to download and READ the manuals before buying. also I like that they allow you to download free liverys. unlike PSS or Wilco....
November 24, 200322 yr one last question, dose it have a VC and is it interactive like the rest of the FS9 planes?
November 24, 200322 yr Hi David,In my opinion the PMDG virtual cockpit looks awesome. It is also one of the first VCs that actually looks good at night. They have done an excellent job on the night lighting. Currently some switches are interactive in the VC but not all. From the posts on this forum I gather that the SU2 update will make the VC extremely interactive ... to the point that even all the buttons on both FMC's will be clickable. (I'm sure someone from PMDG will correct me if I'm wrong about that ;) )As for my opinion on the plane as a whole ... Excellent! There's a bit of a learning curve but I'm enjoying every minute of it. The product is very easy to use. What you are learning is how to fly a 737. You know it's going to be realistic when the best sources of information are the books and SOPs of the real airplane.Don
