November 25, 200322 yr Author I stand by my statement from my AOMs, V2+20 not *current* speed when selection of a CMD in takeoff mode UNLESS one has *CHANGED* the MCP speed which is what your pilot friend sounds like he did. When you touch the MCP speed knob in this situation prior to a A/P engagement, it will move to V2 plus 20 with only one click, so sounds like he was speeding up to flaps retraction speeds and in that case the A/P engagement would not revert back to V2 plus 20. If you have some proof this is not the case you are free to provide it in this thread......[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 26, 200322 yr Author QUESTION: You mentioned that in a PATH DESCENT that the FMC does not adhear to any speed for the descent but just follows the PATH, can you elaborate more please? ANSWER: I would like to add that below 10000' VNAV will disconnect if your speed goes beyond 15 knots of the TARGET speed. So one must pay close attention below 10000'. Above 10000' you can allow the speed to reach up to 1 knot prior to the barber pole before it reverts to LVL CH and the TARGET speed is nothing more than a reference speed....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
