December 1, 200322 yr "after turning engines off and turning apu and apu bleed off I want to turn STBY power off."Switching off the Battery should do this (or switching the Stby Power Switch to OFF should do this)."When flying i have it set to on because if I turn it to off the instruments turns black!"This is the way it should be. Standby Power must be left on for flight."IS there a way to turn stby power off after engine start (refering to the manual), and how to do so?"Why would you want to if the instruments go blank? (Are you sure you are interpreting the manual correctly? Which manual are you referring to?)Are you worried about draining the battery/s? Standby Power is only draining the battery/s if you don't have an AC power source (i.e. APU Generator, External/Ground Power or Left Engine Generator). Standby Power will automatically use the Right Engine Generator if the Left engine fails.Hope this makes sense.Cheers.Ian
December 2, 200322 yr Seems to be a bit of confusion regarding STBY Power. Under all normal conditions, leave it on AUTO. The only time it needs to be set to OFF or BATT is for testing or emergency purposes. Upon shut down, turning the main battery switch off is all that's required.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 Mechanic
