December 4, 200322 yr Hi I've read about the use of a screw for the TOGA button.I was wondering whether the large screws beneath the PFD, ND EICAS could be used as clickspots for the FMC, Radio and Throttle, and maybe under the compass for the overhead. Then put a clickspot on each of the popup panels to get rid of them.Just a thought?Terry
December 4, 200322 yr Hello, Say if you did have a guessing game for all the pop ups, lets look at the OVERHEAD, right now we can open-go to any panel, what would you do about that with the switcher removed? A lot more to it that the one panel you are looking at, PIC, DF and a number of others have a *switcher* none is realistc but in many ways needed...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. December 5, 200322 yr The idea was because, although you have a "switcher", (the line of icons on the main panel and overhead?), once the FMC or throttle panel is open you have to know the "Shift+8" or "Shift+6" combination to close them as they both "pop up" over the "switcher".I use both Bill Grabowskis EMB145 Panel and PSS Airbus both have clickspots, Lonny Paynes 757 panel uses "look up" or "look down".I don't have DF 737 or PIC, but, I don't believe it is a guessing game, after all you have to learn the functions of the remainder of the panel, including the elusive TOGA button, surely that is no different to a clickspot.ThanksTerry
December 5, 200322 yr I have no problem with the "switcher". If something covers it up, just take the mouse and move it. I always move the FMC, radio, and throttle to the right side of the panel. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
December 5, 200322 yr Same here no problems, in fact that is where they (FMC and Radio)should be anchored. The FMC and Radio are not on the left side of the cockpit. I don't have a problem at all with the switcher once I move those other windows. IMHO I would have loved to see little icons, but the switcher works just great.Bob
December 5, 200322 yr Well you are mistaken Terry, our other panels do not pop up over the switcher and like the overhead/approach panel/landing panel these are full screen panels unlike the FMC/throttle and Radio panels but in these cases you can access the switcher still on the main panel to close them..... December 5, 200322 yr I don't have a problem with the panel I think it is wonderful and am looking forward to the detailed update that is being produced.I just thought that a clickspot for the radio, throttle & FMC would have made the panel look tidier. When I open the throttle quadrant or FMC they both open on the left hand side of the panel covering the "switcher" the radio opens on the right so thats not a problem.I am not able to "drag" the pop ups over as I have that facility disabled.I have not used the Approach or landing panels, but do realise they are full screen therefore not a problem. Thanks for your prompt comments, I am really impressed with the quality of this package and am trying to learn my way around it after using Airbus for such a long while.ThanksTerry
December 5, 200322 yr Well I agree that it would make the panel look better and trust me I have brain stormed this for quite awhile. There has to be some type of switcher, the shift+ routine does not work well as the switcher. Yeah if your res is set to 1024x768 they might just go over the switcher, I use 1280x1024 so do not see this. Maybe more thinking about this will produce something for everyone ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
