System Reboot

Featured Replies

HiI've been flying FS Since FS5 and upgraded to FS2004 from FS2002 a couple of weeks ago. Been flying PSS and Dreamfleet aircraft in FS2002, usually with out a problem. About a month or two ago an anoying problem occurred, while flying and enjoying the view from the cockpit my computer shuts down and reboots without a word of warning. So I upgraded to FS2004 and bought PMDG 737NG, been flying for about a week without problem, now same thing happens. Just shuts down and reboots the computer without warning.Anyone have an idea what this is about?ThanksNickFujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600P4 2,0GHz256 RAMGeforce 3 64MbWindows XP Home EditionSidewinder FF2

Hi Nick,Unfortunately it could be caused by a number of things. Like nillefix said, it's commonly the drivers.First thing I'd recommend that you do is go start -> settings -> control panel -> system. Click on the advanced tab, then click on "settings" under "Startup and Recovery" then uncheck the tab that says "Automatically Restart" under the "System Failure" heading. Now, if the error is caused by a bad driver, more than likely it'll give you a BSOD (blue screen of death) giving you an error code and the filename of the driver in question.Second, go here (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/rl/servicesupport/homepc.html), provided that the Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600 is the computer in question, and download all the driver updates, bios updates, etc., that apply to your computer.Third, go to www.nvidia.com and download the newest drivers for your video card (or directly here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_53.03). Install those even if you just updated from the previous step.Fourth, go to www.windowsupdate.com and download all the updates for your computer including the newest DirectX - 9.0b.That should, off the top of my head, take care of *most* of the driver issues, if there are any. Report back if that doesn't solve it.Good luck!

Hi Nick,These system reboots could also be due to mo/bo protection mechanisms shutting the PC down if the temperatures are going too high. With my MSI board I am having those issues now as I am trying to overclock it a tad. But that is of course dependant on the type of mother board you have and if it supports emergency protection shut downs. Just an idea... TGIF,
