December 13, 200322 yr Hi Anthony,I am currently updating all of the Australian SID/STAR files and was wondering specifically the use of the DIRECT keyword (dumb question) :-roll How does it differ from default tracking if at all. Thanks in advance,Danny Vickers :-waveAdelaide, Australia
December 13, 200322 yr Commercial Member It differs from the normal waypoint sequencing in that it doesn't take the course line into account the way the normal NAVAID X NAVAID Y does. As it passes the waypoint, the plane just turns the nose toward the next waypoint, rather than turning and intercepting the mathematical courseline that is the shortest distance from X to Y.The direct keyword has another use too where you can do something like this:KEEP TRK UNTIL 1500 DIRECT NAVAID XYZAgain this is telling the plane to just turn until the plane is heading directly to the waypoint and not to worry about flying a particular course to it...Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
December 13, 200322 yr Ryan,Great - you confirmed what I was thinking. Just didn't want to code too much before I was sure.Cheers,Danny Vickers :-waveAdelaide, Australia
