Approach VREF Not Selected - When taking off ???

Featured Replies

Hi GuysWhlist climbing out of LOWI 08 and after reaching 6700ft, i got the warning message displayed below on the 737's fmc - which is curious as i was taking off !!! Somehow, it seems that the fmc thought that i was descending and not ascending. Following on from this, when i attempted to engage vnav, i kept getting the message "check mcp alt". I had to complete the flight with just lnav.Anyone got any ideas or thoughts about this.Much appreciatedGaryhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/64626.jpg

Just need to know if you entered the speed constraint of 200/FL95.Because the min. speed in CLB is 210KTs, you can see it on the perf. init page 2/2Let me know.Ramon.

Hi RamonI did indeed, enter the speed constraint of 210kts - would this cause the message then ?Thanks for your replyGary

My guess(and probably wrong) is that the terrain below you caused the aircraft to think it was descending. It looks pretty hilly.

But as you see on the legs page a SPD/ALT constraint of 200/FL95 while min. spd in Climb is 210KT/.400 in the Init.ref page 2/2And the CLB is starting at the Thrust Reduction altitude.I hope this helps,Ramon.

Hi Gary,I see you have VOR/LOC annunciated on the AFDS... are you by any chanced tuned to an ILS? Would that perhaps confuse the system into thinking you were making an approach, especially with rising terrain?Just a thought... probably wrong!Chris Kirk
