February 25, 200422 yr Hi,Please, please! can someone help me with the following autopilot problems in FS9:1. The autopilot cannot maintain a set altitude. The aircraft constantly climbs and descends upto 2000ft above of below the set altitude. As the result, the autothrottle constantly changes power settings between full throttle and idle in order to maintain the set airspeed during this climbing and descending. This plays havoc with my fuel planning not to mention the anxiety of my passengers.2. The aircraft reacts very sharply and violently whenever the autopilot commands a heading change. Eventhough the bsnk angle is never exceeded, it is not a smooth and gentle turn. This makes my passengers very upset. Both these problems occur when the autopilot is set manually via MCP or when using the FMC.I have even redownloaded the full SU1.3 and reinstalled because I thought that perhaps the updater wasn't updating the files correctly.I haven't seen any other similar posts, so I must have some incorrect setting on my PC.I would appreciate any ideas/help!thanksPaul
February 26, 200422 yr I had the same problem. when i did a decent the bird would porpoise (did i spell that right) up and down. I set my frame rate a few frames lower and it cured it. I read some where that under certain conditions the auto pilot or whatever can fire too many commands to the speedtape or whayever and cause havoc. Maybe thats another matter tough, no expert. I'm sure somone can help you though.Regards
February 26, 200422 yr Paul,I had,and under some conditions still have, that problem. After a long discussion with PMDG support with no resolution (not a critism, they were VERY helpful but ran out of ideas) I uninstalled FS9. After I reinstalled FS9 AND used an unregistered version of FSUPIC, everything worked per the book. Now the interesting part: when I use any version of FSUPIC with registration AND flight control axis calibration, the problem returns. It goes away when I switch back to the unregistered FSUPIC, which doesn't allow axis calibration. So I don't know if the problem is with FS9 or FSUPIC's axis calibration or some sort of interaction between them. I'm still trying various combinations. And in my case the problem isn't restricted to the PMDG 737NG, which tells me it's not a PMDG problem. The iFDG 757 v.2 acts the same with registered FSUPIC and axis calibration. In my case, long story short: don't use registered FSUPIC with axis calibration with the PMDG 737NG.Jim Harnes
February 26, 200422 yr Hi,Thanks for your responses. I have been using a registered FSUIPC. I'll try an unregistered FSUIPC - what a waste! Jim, please could you let me know if you find a combination that works.thanksPaul
February 26, 200422 yr Hi Paul,I'll let you know. And one more thing: be certain there is only one instance of axis calibration in your FS.cfg file.Jim
February 26, 200422 yr Paul,The bobbing up and down could also be due to load out of limits. Check your load configuration and fuel load so it is within the limits.EDIT: After reading your original post again I don't think this is the cause to your problem but check anyway...Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 7, 200422 yr Hi,I've unregistered FSUIPC and the autopilot is a lot more stable (Thanks Jim). What a waste of an exceptional utility! I really miss not having reverse thrust on my throttles anymore.Loads are all within limits.Does everyone using axis calibration have this problem or only some users?regardsPaul
