March 3, 200422 yr I posted here some time ago that when I launch the NG in FS2004, that I keep getting an old texture (installed with the original NG release, SU1 I believe; I now use SU3) in my aircraft menu. The plane doesn't exist anymore, and displays in the rotating aircraft window in the "aircraft select" menu as an untextured model which can't be selected. Someone from PMDG advised to run the removal tool and re-install. I did that but it hasn't fixed it. It doesn't bother me that much so I haven't persued it much. Then I see a recent post about someone asking regarding clickable switches in the overhead in the VC. I believe the solution suggested there too was to run the removal tool. I checked tonight and found that my overhead switches are also not clickable (in VC).So- thinking I could kill 2 birds here, I again ran the removal tool- then when that didn't work went looking for any other instances of the NG on my system. I never found any (although SU1 was installed initially into FS2002, which has since been uninstalled.Other than re-running the removal tool, is there any other suggestions? This is not a show-stopper, although it would be nice to enjoy the clickable overhead in the VC. I've run Power Tools and found lots of registry references to PMDG, including some keys it seems, but am uncomfortable in removing them. What I can't figure is- how does an old livery (in this case "Frontier Airlines") appear in the a/c selection screen when it's not there anymore? Magic? Thanks for any help,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. March 3, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi Bruce. The overhead is not clickable in the VC. As far as textures not showing up on the airplane, this often happens when users tweak their system so that CPU priority is given to cache, and not programs. If this is something you have done, we suggest you switch it back.Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
March 3, 200422 yr Bruce,if the above does not fix the issue, try looking inside the aircraft config file for the missing livery. When FS cannot find a folder referenced in the config file it will display the model without texture mapping. If you do locate the missing livery you'll need to manually edit the config file to remove the three enteries for that livery and then RENUMBER the remaining config file enteries to close the gap.Let us know how you make out with these suggestions. http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
March 3, 200422 yr Hi Bruce, was that the last NG livery you were using when you saved the flight? if so, that's going to be the entry in the saved flight .FLT, just choose another livery and re-save the flight situation.Regards,Bob Jones
March 3, 200422 yr Author Hi Bob,Thanks for your reply. I'm not retrieving a flight, just selecting an airport and an aircraft from the front-end menu. However, if you think that a saved flight might be affecting this aircraft selection, then I'll go look see if I have one saved with the old Frontier livery.Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. March 3, 200422 yr Author Thanks Vin,My error- sorry, I thought that I had read the overhead was clickable (switches) in the VC.As far as the CPU priority is concerned, I have it at "programs". However, if the only effect of this strange issue is a plane texture that doesn't exist, and it's obviously not causing any issues on the overhead, then it's not a big deal. It's just a wierd one, I guess! Thanks again,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
March 3, 200422 yr Author Hi Pete,Thanks. I checked the .cfg file, and no "Frontier" entries. This was the first thing I thought of, but I note that the .cfg file ws completely re-built after the removal tool, then the re-install. This is really wierd, but certainly not a show stopper. Thanks again,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
