Shimmy on touchdown???

Featured Replies

I'm getting a shimmy after touchdown as my speed reduces to maybe 70 knots or below. It appears to be a nosewheel shimmy and happens on every landing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

As a wager, I would bet that your autobrakes are still on, and your autopilots are still on as well. Make sure to be manually braking at about 60 kts(don't know the exact speed you should turn off autobraking and go manual), and make sure to disengage the autopilot immediately after touchdown.

Hi Chuck,I agree with what Fred said, but I don't get this problem on landing. First I disengate the AP about 1200 feet, and fly the bird manually. my A/T has the landing speed set in it and I do have the autobrakes set at 2, unless the runway is wet or short or both. Don't try to land at KLGA with a autobrakes set at less than 3 you may wind up in the East River :-(Try a manual landing and see if you still have this problem.CheersBob

That seems to have been the problem. Here's another question - for now I won't put it as a new topic. Do you know how to map the Autobrake Increase - Decrease to the CH Flight Sim Yoke Pro (it doesn't seem to map via the standard FS9 commands)? Also the Autopilot and Auto Throttle engage/disengage? Thanks!
