March 22, 200422 yr Hi there crew and users...I voted recently that I used Fs2002...I recently got curious and reinstalled my FS9...I decreased my cloud detail and auto gen to normal and whammo it all ran perfectly!Even my PMDG ran better than on my FS2002!Also I would advise any FS9sceptic to download one of the many zip files from avsim that has edited textures of auto gen or clouds, because much of FS9's textures are of a very high resolution and resizing them to half the size or less increases your framerates.I have been looking at my fly tampa sceneries and the likes with all of my FS2002 AI's and the move has taken me 4 days, with 2 intense day of working, also working with AFCAD two and realizing the full potential of the AI feature and AFCAD2 features, I realized just what a great sim this is!So to you who can fly with ok frame rates, try and do the same as I have! You will be surprised! And PMDG I understand that you will try and make the products FS9 exclusive, and I think that you need not take on an extra workload because some of us just have only tried FS9 once and not even tried to edit the sim before judging it!So here's MY blessing to go FS9 only. :)Boaz...
March 23, 200422 yr Thanks for the encouragement, Boaz. I also gave it a go, but I can't say it's been easy getting FS9 up and running. I tried 5 different video drivers to get the basic scenery to display properly. The PMDG panel itself was OK (and even got rid of a bug or two I was experiencing in FS2002). The only problem I have at the moment is with engine sound. I've wound back all the sound quality settings I could find, but I get loud static when I set the engine volume slider at anything but OFF. The static seems to be triggered when I go to SPOT view... from then on (including when I go back into the cockpit)... all I hear is static/hash. Engine sound is OK with the basic MSFS aircraft.Any suggestions?Thanks.Cheers.Ian.
March 23, 200422 yr I can only think of updating your sound card drivers or if you have XP to insert the CD and choose update or fix or something like that...XP can screw up a bit, but there's no need to reinstall windows by formatting or the likes, simply just fix or update, no changes will occur or loss of files either...That fixed some of my problems with speed and so on...Also you need a new 3D card, I don't have the money for one right now, and thus I cannot have reflective water and there's static on the windshield of my aircraft windows.Boaz...

March 26, 200422 yr I would like to add to Paul's reply that IF you own a soundblaster type card it's a known issue for some time. You will need to update those drivers from www.soundblaster.com and this should cure your issue (if this is your issue, it was mine)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
