March 24, 200422 yr Is the conditional waypoints function going to be improved in the -800/-900 pack?Roar Nicolaisen
March 24, 200422 yr Hmmm,What exactly do you mean? If your talking about "At or above" and "At or below" type of conditions they are there in the 800/900.If this is not what you mean could you elaborate a bit? ;-)Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 24, 200422 yr i mean if it has improved any. i can garantie you that the way it functions today in the 600/700 pack is not a fraction as realistic as it is in the reel aircraft. I thought the bugs would disappear with SU2, and som did but there are still many to go.And one more thing is the holding function. The aiplane does not enter the traffic pattern right at all and it most cartainly does not turn right within it.

March 24, 200422 yr Hi RoarNo the "3000A" and "FL150B" doesn't work in the -600/700 has been stated since the release. But the SID/STAR programming syntax does however alow them. The FMC will just ignore them. In the upcoming release, which we are currently putting through it's paces, they will work as they are supposed to.Still if this is not the conditionals you're thinking of please enlighten us. And as far as the entering and exiting holds are concerned, I haven't heard anything changes but will test it in the new beta and report to the team about it. It's been said it should be fixed with the -800/900 release.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 24, 200422 yr
CONDITIONAL WAYPOINTS
Conditinal (or floating) waypoints are events when a condition occures and are not at a geographically fixed position. They are dependant upon aircraft operating state and external variables such as wind. Conditinal waypoints cannot be entered manually. They are embedded within stored procedures such as DEPARTURES and ARRIVALS. Speed and/or altitude entries may be DELetable (i.e. (LAS280) below). Bulfer pg 28 NG edition As for HOLDS, I keep hearing talk but not ONE example of improper HOLD procedures! Other than BEST SPD I see nothing that is inaccurate with holding patterns. So please be very detailed not general statements that don't help.
Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
March 24, 200422 yr Hey Randy,The time I've had problems with the hold function was during a missed approach. Here's a section of the approach plate:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68550.jpgThe red line shows what really happened:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68551.jpgI ended up taking over and flying manually back to the VOR near enough on the 033

Those waypoints seem to work ok. For instance, the conditional waypoints that make up the "keep heading 350 until 9 NM from BAL" in a STAR work fine as far as I've seen.As for holds, they've worked fine for me, except for the speed issue (which will either be fixed or SPD INTV will cure in the 8/900).
March 24, 200422 yr Yes we are talking about *BEST SPD* right now and of course the ability to manually set HOLD speed and yes SPEED INTV is another option commming ;). I would assume that if one is going too fast in a HOLD the aircraft will not keep anywhere near the line...
Best Wishes,Randy J. March 24, 200422 yr Guys,Do you really get the A/P to fly the right entry and exit procedures with regards to HOLDs? I never managed to get a hold of that on the -600/700. i.e the teardrop entry, parallel entry and the two direct entries either with inside or outside turn. See Bulfer pp. 174-176, (May 2001 ed.) for further explanation ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 24, 200422 yr Randy,230Kts shouldn't be too fast for the autopilot to handle (ICAO standard speed for civil jets below FL140). I'll do some tests on holds tomorrow to see if the entry patterns work correctly for me. Apart from the one I mentioned above the only other hold I've performed was the one in Tim Metzinger's tute which wasn't exactly hard on the AP.CheersDavid
March 25, 200422 yr Hey all,I've flown a test flight that uses all four different entry procedures (parallel, teardrop, and direct entry, two direct entry tests were made from either side of the hold). The whole flight was flown at 230Kts (including holds), 12000ft and zero wind. This pic shows the first test flight results:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68606.jpgOverall not too bad, although a bit sloppy on the direct entry patterns. The flightplan if anyone wants it. PBD points written as entered in the FMC. All holds are 270
