May 3, 200422 yr Hello, Please bare with me as I realise this is a flying question and not a PMDG technical question. It refers to the 737ng 600-700 and 800-900 series. You have obtained your approach speeds with the FMC which state the flap deployment at various speeds. Other flap settings 15/30/40 are determined by speed and the green numbers on the speed band. You also have your approach height/glideslope capture as determined by the approach plate (ie 3000 feet).QUESTION. What aircraft speed is appropiate for the distance from the airport? I seem to get variuos speeds verses distance when I search about the internet. How far should you be when you go flaps 30? The outer marker? For example, I always am at 200 kias at 12 miles out, then decrease speed with appropiate flap deployment from here (green numbers on the speed band). I try to be at flaps 15 at the outer marker with gear down. At about 3 clicks out I go flaps 30 with appropiate speed as indicated by the FMC. I cannot seem to find anything written down to confirm this. Am I flying the correct way? Oh and I never use autoland and usually like to fly manual in with only the speed limiter set. Many thanks for the person who picks this up.............Iain
May 3, 200422 yr Iain,I would some advice on this topic. Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
May 3, 200422 yr >Iain,>>I would some advice on this topic.Hi Keith,Yes it would be good if there was a sheet which gave all this information (speeds, flap settings and distance from airport) that was averaged out. It would certainly help many simmers who are learning....Iain
May 3, 200422 yr Hi there.Take a look her: http://www.fmcguide.com/support.html. There's a sheet on top there called B737 profiles(PDF). Maybe that could help? Anyway, it's very useful information though. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpg
May 3, 200422 yr Found the 737 profile guide pretty useful. Thank's for bringing to our attention. John
