May 6, 200422 yr I can not enter the SEL/OAT below 16C while at the gate, the FMC showed ___/012C but I was not allowed to put in 12 in lsk1. Is this an isolated problem that I am having because the manual makes it sound like it should be able to be done and the 600/700 used to be able to:SEL/OAT: Selected Outside Air Temperature and sensed Outside Air Temperature are displayed at the 1L LSK.Selected Outside Assumed Air Temperature: The 1L key provides the crew with the ability to enter an assumed air temperature (SEL). Valid entries are one or two digit entries from 0 to 99. This field cannot be changed once the aircraft exceeds sixty five knots, or after autothrottle engagement. The field will be removed once the aircraft becomes airborne. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
May 6, 200422 yr Strange. I don't think I have this problem. I believe on my last flight I had an initial OAT of 14C. Any other details on what you are doing when you have this problem, what addons, etc might help solve the prob.Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. May 6, 200422 yr Author Let me see, it was in the 700 with the new panel, I was at KSYR with no add on scenery. It was online at VATSIM with sbrelay, aibridge, and midcon acars running. I programed the FMC as usual, this is not the first time that it has hapened, each time I do it I get a message like "not allowed" or something to that effect. I have tried typing in 12 and 012 but nothing. For some reason I remember a post by Randy when the 800 first came out about not being able to enter anything below 16 but I can't find it on the search so it might be my imagination. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
May 6, 200422 yr Author Ok, I found the quote it wasn't Randy it was Mtt that said "the range for SEL TEMP is 16-70 ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
May 6, 200422 yr Hi,You are not mistaken. The range has been narrowed to 16 to 70 degrees with an upper limitation of a 25% reduction of thrust. Actually the lower limit will change depending on airport altitude and such but since you hardly ever (read never) use those low value temperatures that is not modelled. But why are you trying to enter a SEL TEMP of 14 Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|

May 6, 200422 yr Author Matt,I guess I was probably doing things wrong but when filling in the FMC I would put the OAT in the SEL since there is very little chance in the sim that it will be drastically different in the summer. I guess from now on I will just leave it blank unless It is different. What happens when it is winter and we have an OAT of say 7C at the gate but you get out to the threshhold and it is say 10C (Just Hypothetical). Do you know if they are going to implement this to be able to be pluged in? I would think that the V1,V2,Vr speeds are going to be drastically different between 7C and 10C. And as always possible I could be doing this whole thing completely wrong. May 7, 200422 yr Commercial Member Jeremy, that field is only needed for reduced takeoffs. If you want a full thrust takeoff, due to operational limitations, leave that field blank. The EEC will protect your engines during takeoff.A reduced takeoff can be performed, whenever the runway is long enough, the weather within all limits and the aircraft not too heavy. Then you can enter an assumed temperature, which will then reduce N1. (Note you can always firewall the engines, it's just that the reference N1 is lower). Reasons for a reduced takeoff are:-readuced wear and tear-lower N1 reduction at acceleration altitude (better/calmer for pax)Regards,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
