Negative. The FMC will calculate your altitude for you. If you enter an altitude, the FMC will do its best to meet that constraint.

As Randy said you need a cruise alt. The proper FMC preflight flow is covered in my tutorial and Tim Metzinger's tutorial, I suggest you take a look at how the FMC is preflighted. In my tutorial, I cover only what is really necessary to get the plane off of the ground.
