May 12, 200422 yr Hi Brad,I always put my rwy heading in the hdg bug, but my question is when to turn to be in this hdg. I always wait until 400'AGL, so I activate the autopilot and the HDG mode. Is that correct or I am supposed to correct it MANUALLY before 400AGL?Sorry if I'm being stupid, but I want to fly it as real as possible. Thanks,
May 13, 200422 yr No such things as a stupid question mate.My pleasure to be able to help. You are entirley correct in setting your HDG bug to the Runway HDG (also known as QDM). As you rotate the aircraft just keep the HDG bug on the index.. While you are still on the ground it will of course be aligned with your TRK line but as soon as you rotate you ignore TRK line and fly the Mganeta HDG crusor over the white triangular HDG Index.OK?If you like I wil host a voice chat for you in Teamspeak, RW or Ventrilo.Just LMK,Rgds,
May 13, 200422 yr Hi Brad,Thanks for your help. I read the manual and as I quoted before, it says that I can only bank after 200'AGL. To correct the HDG I'd have to bank. Finally, I need or NOT to wait until I reach 200AGL to start banking to correct my HDG?Thanks again,
May 13, 200422 yr When you are taking off, isn't the heading straight ahead? That's runway heading... Why you need to turn and bank to continue facing in a straight line straight ahead is beyond me, unless you'v just drifted off heading somewhere during the rotation, in which case, yes, bank slightly to maintain the direction you were going when you were rolling down the runway. May 13, 200422 yr Hehe, I was like 'another thread for the notworthmytime heap', but then I read it ;)
May 13, 200422 yr Just manually FLY the heading, there is no turn involved for straight ahead ;-), at 400 select a roll mode either HDG SEL or LNAV. If the wind is pushing you certainly manually correct to stay on HDG.. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
