Anoying T/O Warning Solved

Featured Replies

Many pilots have noticed that once you use spoilers when landing and even when on the ground a warning sounds when throttle is set to over 40% even though everything seems to be setup for T/O as it should (flaps, trim, spoilers in DOWN pos.,...).There is definetly something weird going on with spoilers. Even though it looks like spoilers are NOT armed and in DOWN position its actualy not in DOWN position :) You have to left click on the spoilers with mouse and !HOLD! and then DRAG the lever UP to the upper edge of the throttle window. Even though spoiler lever wil not move the audio warning will go OFF. Problem solved. There you go. Try it. To me this looks like a stupid bug that could be solved very easy.Personaly i find spoiler use very unfriendly and hard to do. I can't understand why on earth spoilers are not controled simply with 2 keys. At least give us an option to control it with keys.

Hi,I also have had the warning when trying to take off. I did get it to shut up about 50% of the time, by re-running the take checklist.Speedbrakes... I was aware from the tutorial that these should be placed in ARM for takeoff along with RTO autobrakes for the event you want to abort at or before V1. Maybe this is a mistake in the tutorial. Oddly I can no longer get it to stay in the ARM'ed position on the runway, it used to go there, but now it simply moves to full on when armed. (on the ground). For me the speedbrake lever is VERY frustrating and results in swearing a lot. Heres the problems I have...With the mouse:-Sometimes it just doesn't move with the mouse dragging it, whether it's on or off at the time. Clicking where you want it to move to, works about 30% of the time, the rest of the time it ignores you. It's difficult to move it into ARM as there are 2 notches it can rest in that "could" be ARM, there is a notch just before the ARM position, for no reason I can see.Keyboard:-Using the FS2004 keybond for speed brakes "/" I have found that it will bring the speed brake on fairly reliably, however SHIFT-/ does not ARM it properly and 100 times more annoying repressing / does not disengage the speed brake. You have to repeatedly hit / to close it. Sometimes a quick double click of / closes the brakes, but other times you have to hold / down and try and let go when the gree light goes out. (not easy).Last night I after being asked for DRAG from the FMC I couldn't get the brake off, it was stuck solid! 180...160... FMC opening the throttles to 90% N1... 150...140.. and eventually it came off by holding in / for random lengths of time and watching the green light. Can someone please tell us how we are "meant" to use the brakes, or fix the prob and release a patch?Speaking of similar problems... Has anyone noticed FS9 has keyboard problems. I have had problems with...Push-back SHIFT-P, and (as per manual) pressing 1 or 2 to turn the tail. This doesn't work, well... I have got it to work once, but only once.Selecting a single engine, or reselecting all engines, with E then the engine number. E1, or E1234 for example. Again this works very unreliablely.Any thoughts?Paul

Hi Paul,Just to let you know, you're not the only one. I have the same problems with Pushback and engine select.CheersSimon Rigby

"Speedbrakes... I was aware from the tutorial that these should be placed in ARM for takeoff along with RTO autobrakes for the event you want to abort at or before V1. Maybe this is a mistake in the tutorial."Must be a mistake in the tutorial, Paul... or you've misunderstood something that was written in the tutorial (or you were reading an Airbus tutorial) :(You don't arm speedbrakes on Boeings for takeoff. Some Boeings won't even let you select ARM on the ground... as soon as you do the speedbrake will be activated (and will be automatically extended to its fully up position). Please read previous messages on the takeoff warning system for further info.Cheers.Ian.

To deploy the speed brakes press / to retract the speed brakes press SHIFT+/ it works every time for me. As far as the warning horn I do not get that as I use the key strokes to deploy and retract instead of the mouse.

I get the same Beeeeep Beeeep Beeeep as well. Very annoying. It only stops when the wheels have left the ground. The manual dose says that you should arm the Spoiler before takeoff along with the RTO on.

Just to chime in and say that I also have these problems with the speedbrakes.I noticed, too, that while '/' gets them to extend, only 'shift+/' will get them to go down again, and the "arm spoilers" command also works very unreliably.

Gentlemen,The topic of spoilers on the 737NG and FS9's rendition of the Spoiler system has been covered Numerous times. Please run a search of the forum for Spoilers if you want additional details on how and why it works the way it does. Here is one of the more complete explanations from Robert. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchRegardsPaul Gollnick :-cool Technical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg

"The manual dose says that you should arm the Spoiler before takeoff along with the RTO on."RTO is correct, but we may have to have a word with the author of the tutorial in regards to arming the speedbrake ;-)CheersIan.

After reading this topic I keep the Spoiler off and get no beeps. Problem solved.By the way guys. Done my first flight online with the 800 after weeks of training with it. Words can't discribe how good this program is.On the downside. I decided to fly my standard 737's the other day. My god are they bad. I have since removed all the offending aircraft and just left PMDG and euro wings.
