June 26, 200421 yr Firstly I have just finished Tim's tutorial V2 and thoroughly enjoyed it, having done V1 some time ago. Anyone purchasing this aircraft should do it before asking any questions as it's well written and thought out. However here's my question. On the attached image, what does the circled yellow strikethrough message mean? I've looked in Bulfer and the PMDG manuals and couldn't see an example. This is a general question, rather than relating to this flight.
June 26, 200421 yr It shows the ILS identifier and CRS. It shouldn't have been struck through, that is most likely the cause of a missing font.
June 26, 200421 yr >It shows the ILS identifier and CRS. It shouldn't have been>struck through, that is most likely the cause of a missing>font.I get that too sometimes - I think it may be struck through because you don't have both nav radios tuned to the same frequency and thus shouldn't attempt an autoland.Note that I don't think it should be that way - I think it's supposed to be either green and not struck, or yellow but not struck.
June 26, 200421 yr Tim,Interstingly I was doing your tutorial (KTNT), and this was within 2 mins of take off. Therefore I don't think I should be tuned to anything at that point. As for fonts, that's an interesting one. I run XP Pro with a full install so I would like to know what's missing.
June 26, 200421 yr I have this problem as well, and I am not sure what font is the culript if the problem is a missing font.
June 27, 200421 yr Fred,I'm amazed you dont remember this! ;-) The strike through was widely discussed during beta testing. The strike through has nothing to do with missing fonts. If you don't have both radios tuned to the correct ILS signal the identifier and course will be struck through. This is somewhat as in the real bird. On the real thing I think the Identifier is struck through if the radios are not tuned correctly and the course is struck through if the course is not set correctly. from the top of my head I remember it being that way from reading the Boeing OPS Manual.Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
June 27, 200421 yr Thanks for the various replies. Since my original post I have done a little more testing and found the following:1. If the NAV1 radio is tuned to a VOR it lights up white of the PFD and shows the current radial/distance (DME) info just like entering the VOR into the fix page. I can turn the course anywhere I like and it stays white, so does not appear to be related to this.2. NAV2 doesn't seem to be affecting things as I can change the frequency and the display is unchanged.3. If I tune NAV 1 to a frequency that is not in range I get the yellow strikethrough. This seems logical to me although I don't know if this is how it should behave.I don't know how it behaves in landing scenarios as I was 3 mins after take off in my test.I would be intersted in an official response from the developers though.
July 8, 200421 yr Dave,Have a look for the tutorials on this page:http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/type.asp?iType=19
July 8, 200421 yr Hi Geoff,Downloaded the flight tutorial...but for some reason when i open it with either adobe or word it appears to be in computer language...which i dont speak.Either im doing something wrong or im buggered. If you would be so kind as to e-mail me a copy i would be most gratefull.the advanced works fine.My e-mail address [email protected] youDave
July 9, 200421 yr I just did a test flight and if you tune in to both NAVs it goes away like Mats said. I never really noticed it because I fly using Continental's aircraft and they fly "Southwest style" (EFIS/MAP) and the ILS ID isn't displayed like on the other style.Nick B.Continental Airlines 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
