July 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Adrian,Logging in with administrative priveleges is a function of Microsoft Window's XP.1) Click the Start button in the lower left corner of the desktop. 2) Click Settings, then click Control Panel. 3) In the Control Panel window, click User Accounts. 4) On the bottom of the User Accounts window, you will see your log in name and icon. If you have administrative priveleges, "administrator" will appear under your name.Let us know, and we can move on from there...Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
July 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Zach-The problem you are seeing is caused by:1) Attempting to install the softare onto a drive or partition for which you do not have adequate permission.2) Having set your windows fonts to read only.We have seen a few users run into this problem, and while we cannot provide localized, individual computer lessons, you'll have to follow the instructions that Vin gave you, and adjust them to apply to however your machine is set up...Much as we'd like to walk you through the entire process- it isn't possible for us to help you with issuse on your machine locally because we cannot interface with it directly... On the up side- we had a dozen or so folks with this problem suddenly appear last month- and resolving the permissions problem resolved the issue for them. Robert S. July 1, 200421 yr Cheers mate for the speedy reply! But I do no that my account is set to administrator! I have reseted (turned it into limited then back to administrator) But still no working! Do yo have any clue because i certainly dont! What do you reccomend? How do you change the windows font?
July 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Zach,Fonts are located at:C:WINDOWSFontsMake sure the folder is not READ ONLY. To do this, right click on the FONTS folder, select properties, and make sure "READ ONLY" is NOT checked. If it is, uncheck it, and then click "OK" or "APPLY".Once you do that, then try to reinstall the PMDG 737NGBest,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
July 2, 200421 yr Thanks for the reply Vince still not working but what I noticed is that in the windows dfonts folder their is not a font for "arialn" but their is for "arial" so may this have something to do with the problem? Thanks for the help so far anyway!

October 23, 200421 yr Hello Adrian and PMDG staffMaybe I found a solution for you, I had the same problem during installation from CD on WinXP service pack 2 (installation hangs up copying fonts)I solved this way...and I could install my 737NG from CD now it is all right.BUT YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL YOU COULD DAMAGE YOUR WINDOWS INSTALLATION SO IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISKFIRST OF ALL PLEASE PERFORM A COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM AND CREATE A WINDOWS RESTORE POINT BY USING "%SystemRoot%System32restorerstrui.exe" TOOL (you can find it in programs->accessories->system utilities)NOW LETS START...1) check very well you have administratice privileges2) remove "read only" and "system" attributes from "c:windows" folder and all its files and subfolders by using line command like this:attrib -r- -s "c:windows" /s /d (type attrib /? for command help). This is not the same than using Windows ExploreR interface that doesn't really remove these attributes from system folders but only change files - see Q326549 or 326549 articles on Microsoft Knowledge base website)3) if you have Win XP Service Pack 2 temporary disable any Windows Firewall feature by using Windows Firewall in Control Panel4) close any program and application running, go to your System tray and close any program you can find here5) if you have some antivirus software running stop its monitoring function6) open Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and carefully, open the Task TAB and carefully kill one by one every "user task" (user = your account name). Do not kill iexplore.exe and taskmgr.exe they have to be left active.7) then try to kill one-by-one any other System Task that is not ESSENTIAL to run Windows itself: be careful ! if you kill a wrong task you get a message that Windows cannot kill this process, don't mind and go on... but in the worst case you will get a warning that a system shutdown command has been issued, and your system will restart so you have to re-start this procedure from point 3 - please note the name of the wrong process you killed last and do not try to kill it again next time !!!8) finally try to install 737NG: installer should run OK !!!!9) restart your system immediatly after installation process. 10) try to use the new panel in your FS (2002 or FS9)11) when you have checked it's all right please do not forget to enable again Windows Firewall functions and to set again "read only" and "system" attributes to "c":windows" folders and all subfolders using attrib.exe command Good luck !!!!Luca S.Mestre VeneziaItaly
