Question for PMDG and PC builders

Featured Replies

Hey guys got a question for PMDG and then for you guys that build your own machines. I am moving bascially from a Asus A7n266e with an AMD 1800 + to a A7n8x-e with a 3200+ on it. All componets ( 1 gig PC2700 ram, TI4600 card and hard drives will stay the same.)1. PMDG, I have all my files backed up on CD and I am assuming that I would have to install the 600/700 and then the two service packs (I think that's what there was) and then onto the 800/900?? Or is there a easier way??2. For PMDG and you PC experts. I have built my last machine two years ago but I just started over from scratch and reinstalled everything. Can I just build this new machine but keep the data on the two hard drives and move on from there or should I start over again?? If I remember right the 600/700 this could not happen because the software uses system info the register itself. But I could be thinking of something else. Of course it would be much, much easier to keep all the data but I am not sure if that is the correct idea to have or not. I'm leaning on just starting over, even if it might take a bit to do. But your suggestions would be much appreciated.

HI!:Well basicaly you can keep your sofware, the worst it would happen is a need for reactivation of windows XP (in the case you are using it) as well as some other sofware you have that's machine specific and/or requires activation. the best tough is still to format the system and start fresh, since there are some major changes is hardware.regarding the PMDG registration, now you can install/reinstall whenever you want without registration altough it still uses SOMEKIND of copy protection.

Keeping the same Windows while changeing motherboard is possible but not advisable: the system may recover (after countless reboots of configuration) but all sorts of problems may derive. It is advisable to reinstall the operating system.Which in turn means reinstalling all the softwares i'm afraid.
