  1. It wasn't that unexpected. It's sad indeed, let's hope it's temporary, but if it isn't, we still have fsX, wonderful add-ons, and if it's confirmed to be effectively the last version of FS on the "bright" side, in a few years we all have screaming machines to run in in it's full glory, maxed out, blasting fast, with wonderful add-ons.
  2. the "stupid" comment was uncalled for...I assume you called the idea of using XP stupid.Regardless, it was MY OPINION, based on MY experience using both OS...To ME, there is no advantage in using VISTA for FS.Having and using both OS, I am aware of the differences, advantages and shortcomings of both, and I don't consider VISTA an obviously superior product all round.
  3. XP...DX 10 is a "non event" in FSX, in terms of REAL mesurable improvement in both apearance and performance.
  4. HILARIOUS!one of the funniest videos EVER, keeping it in context! Some of it is true sadly!!great job, great sense of humor! :)
  5. I also have bothe types myself and to be completely honest, for gaming, video and photos, CRT's are better! Not that LCD's are bad, they're just diferent.LCD have a few shortcomings concerning FS and gaming in general:The bigger the LCD the bigger has to be the resolution on the graph card, due to the "native resolution" of LCD, they completely ruin the image quality if set to other resolution than the native one, thus a powerfull graphics card is essential.Due to the way LCD work a true black is impossible, and the color the color redention as weak compared to a CRT!!For reading, surfing the web and other stuff LCD are fine! For us simmers a good CRT is exelent
  6. I recal that prior to the new PMDG menu, the AOA was an on/off option for the PFD, but now in the new stile PMDG menu once we select " no round radio alt" i
  7. I guess I will take the "risk" :-jumpy :-lol
  8. I second one opinion about justflight.JustFlight are pale in comparison! I have SOME justflight DVD's and some more ITVV's, and generaly, justflight are good for scenery tours and landscapes, and ITVV are far more technical regarding the aircraft and systems... I can recomend some good bargans on ebay.
  9. what about the simultaneous use of both the derate option and assumed temperature? any use/advantage for such method? Is it possible and used in RW?
  10. Its neither....Its an expandable interactive multimedia aviation learning centre!!!
  11. No problems here either!my mail is like that one, the sofware HAS NO IMPACT on the system, I have scaned the system for any malware and its clean as it can be, so I don't think it is the MS program fault.
  12. You guys didnt get it.Gee.OTHER FS PLANES DO THAT!!! IT'S NOT AN IMPOSSIBILITY AND DOES NOT REQUIRE A MOVING PLATFORM OTHER THAN AN ORDINARY CHAIR!!!.It's all about the sense of it VS the flight model limitations and handling characteristics. Its a compromise....And the question is about this suposed compromisse. IE:Will the 747 adhere strictly to published numbers, OR will it within some degree of "inacuracy" allow for some handling goodies/easter eggs.thank you.
  13. Hi!It's all very well explained in the download page of the survey. It will everytime you leave FS ask you if you want to submit the data colected fot that fs session ( or you could leave this in auto, that ALLWAYS submits the results) and after submition you will be asked in an browser window to respont to 4 questions about the session just ended. If you get the browser window, the everything went well.READ THE INFORMATIONS ON THE SURVAY PAGE CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES.
  14. I think I can give you an example: The Harald Nehring A310 when landing has a distict touchdown feeling, not stiff when compared to the vas majority of planes availabe, it settles down nicely when the flare is properly done, it reward our technique... and one can tell during the landing itself and also during the replay of it, it's smooth.... and does not seem to be a bad compormise between actual performace numbers and hadling to me...
  15. 100% legit. I got it also and it is as advertised.Do yourself and al of simulation comunity and install the software. it has ABSOLUTLY NO impact on the system performance and is 100% SAFE!Please read a topic about this exact subject that is currently being discussed...LINK to topic: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=260151&page=
  16. Hi!I know that this feeling is rather subjective, but when we land in a heavy there is a sense of "flutuation" and one could feel the suspension slowly taking in the weight of the plane.the 737(PMDG) altough right on the numbers of both performance and handling, is stiffer on the landig feeling than the real one.Could we expect within the compromise of numbers/fs limitations/flight model, expect a litle more feeling "compression" of the landig struct?Ps: sorry but this is hard to explain( aren't all the feeling the same?)
  17. same here. I got the mail and I do intend to participate in the max possible extent of the survey!I find it hard to believe that people are turning theyr back to MS team after being asked to VOLUNTEER to this project. First everyone got an "wow MICROSOFT is here to let us know and ask us how to improve...."Now People are bailing out for the same reasons they VOLUNTERED in???Of corse FS activity has to bee surveyd, it not just tell them how it was, they have to see it and analyse it far more profundly than anything we can tell them.We can help "develop" a better future FS version. If a lot of you non instalers outthere don't participate, your particular data may not be replicated by another fellow simmer and as such some particular problem or will you may have would not reach MS.on a later date and as usual there will be a lot of criticism towards MS ( FS ), some of it might not be there if some more of you pareticipated.. think about it... and what's best is that it's efortless.
  18. I'm a research biologyst, 28y.o, from Portugal, simming since the first FS apeard in commodore 64 back in the late 80's.begining this summer a ppl :-jumpy :-cool :-hah
  19. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/114300.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/114301.txtPS: OPEN .TXT with WORD!!! NOT!! with notepad...The 380, did retract the landing gear....did use the autopilot......used the MCDUs.....you can see the flight videos at AIRBUS site.I leave you the picture of the cockpit and the inovations of it..
  20. perform an autoland? SURE THING! let me explain:If us PMDG 737 simmers, where to make a real world flight any given day I bet all of us would do a simulated flight on the previous day, just for fun, right?A good PMDG virtual pilot knows well the PMDG 737 an some navigation including charts...if for any given reason something went wrong in the real flight, on would just look at the displays, check tihings ups try to relax, and at the aprorpiante time do the following: Change the squawk code to emergency, set both NAV radios on the ILS where available coming from the FMC, charts or even by heart, set the course knob, the altitude, speed, loc, 2nd autopilot, flaps gear and autobrake. All this without even touching the yoke or anything else, just pure knob turning and use of automation, one would only config the plane, not fly it....the one real dificult thing would be to prevent ourselfs from a heart atack, and remain focus, and pray for not having technical dificulties with the plane...An autoland is an autoland, if configured right, it doesn't matter if it was a pilot or a pax to set it....A manual landing would be an entirely different story...
  21. Hi!I'm concidering purchasing this add on to fs, but I still have some questions about the software:After the purchase, the downloaded file is the lateste version available, or is the base one, needing service packs from support?Does A.S come with a custom replacement clouds package or uses the default ones?In the case of replacement clouds, is it better to use 3rd party cloudes like those from FSW?What clouds are recomended by the A.S team for best efect and best performance separatly?I've noticed from the preview pics an option for system or FS time zone:I'm from portugal, my time zone is GMT but I usuly fly domestic into SPAIN wich is GMT+1. I know that NORMALY an hour doesn't make mush diference but what's the MOST realistic setting for this ocasion? Using the system time GMT or FS time GMT+1?Thank you and see you soon
  22. Great information thank you all :)I didn't know a change was made to PAI china package.I will redownload it ASAP.One more question if I may:Is the behavior of the scenery.cfg similar to fs.cfg in what concerns "auto repair"? That is: if I delete scenery.cfg will FS automaticaly rebuild a new one, or no?
  23. thank you very much Dan!!! That was the problem!!!Now solved :)Once again thank you for your help.
