  1. Keep your Ti4200!! It's as good as FX5600 (acording to well respected benchmarkers: 'Tom's Hardware; Anandtech' ) and wouldn't make a difference in your system. Since you are willing to "spend", upgrade your ram to at least 1GB, and if your board support's it, and if your p4 is "old" then upgrade your CPU also. $200 will buy you certainly another 512mb ram and a 2.5Ghz P4.Jos
  2. I think there's no need to turn off opening screen, just open the sim and go straight ahead to making an default flight i.e: try to make your default flight start at the nearest airport from you house, and just prior to saving in, correct the time (the minutes or seconds) to reflect the actual time in your area. The next time you start the sim youl have your default flight set to your local area time, and you can select any time zone that the sim set's it acordingly. Having FSUIPC configured to sincronize fs200x to system time also helps.just give this a try. Hope it helps.Jos
  3. ....Don't disregard ;) I would like to know about Those "Vectors"Thank youJos
  4. the secret is exactly the same used to ALIAS the pss 320 to PA 320 if I recal. I don't remenber and dindn't try yet with 330, I only bought 340, but it has something to do with renaming "posky" or whatever reference diferent from pss to, well, pss ;) I thing I might have some old PA320 merged with pss somewehere in a cd I'll get back to you If I find something.Jos
  5. I personaly note good improvements starting with stable FPS i.e: my max FPS achievabal remains the same with or without SWAP file! Whoever flying around in intenssive scenerys I note that that HDD activity is extremely reduced, it only needs to add the textures to the available ram and not "create" ram and then add the textures, thus making the expirience A LOT SMOOTHER...This is the main inprovement I notice in FS! There are others but more related to the whole system.Jos
  6. I wasn't aware of those formating or printing problems because when I use FS it's the ONLY aplication running, maybe that's why I don't have ANY PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS ;). When working normaly with the pc (lots of i.e pages, word processor, Statistical programs, media player, printer and scanner) I also don't have problems. My Swap file is allways off for the past 1,5 years no probles whatsoever.... but then again it's up to one's personal experience, do that at your own risk.Jos
  7. The positives: Faster computer boot Faster computer shut down Less HDD activity in memory intenssive aplications Less HDD fragmentation Faster opening of aplications Faster task switchThe not so positive: After boot, computer uses more ram thus less available to aplications you eventualy migh get out of available memory ( but the risk of this, using 1GB of ram is MINIMAL!!!The Negatives: Dont know any.Jos
  8. Try to disable SWAP FILE in the control panel! I can assure you windows WILL use your physical memory! ;) , besides you'll get a faster boot and less hdd activity in memory intenssive tasks...Jos
  9. No! The block is the Fuel On Board! just look at the FOB line in your display and put it in the BLOCK tab in the MCDU ex: if FOB= 98000Kg the Block is 98.0
  10. Sorry but I have to express MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION in a rather ranted mode. We all whitnessed recently the release of a couple of payware add on's that made history by anouncing "FULL functional FMC's or MCDU's" "if there is a specific function/button you bett it will be modeled" or "wour new panel will be NEW not an upgraded version of XXX" The new best thing, the king of the hill blah blah blah.. you name it... As expected, and not learning from previous mistakes we all say "... i'm looking forward to fly it" or " you guys are the best..." and " when will it be released.... amazing screenshoot...will it have this this and this...?????" Well, I guess we all know the drill.... hopefully the release day comes and everybody starts saying "...are we there yet??...." and when we are finaly "there" we all rush to buy it EXPECTING a fine FINAL BUGFREE product having implemented ALL the ANOUNCED functions and working FLAWLESS in the majority of the systems. Guess what?? No way!!! the product is still incomplete, untested, without the majority of the ANOUNCED functions, full of bugs, non functional.. you name it!!! Then come the developers saying "that's your fault or your conputer's fault,...did you red the manual??...,...That will be provided in our next upgraded(pay) version,....we are not able to reproduce the problem (altough 20 to 30 costumers had that problem)...or worst they do not say nothing at all, do not show up or do not provide solutions or do not recognize the problem as they're own....or lye about being a NEW???!! panel....So when we see a product that fails to provide the anounced (published) features, some (the majority) serves as unpayed beta testers, some do nothing whayting for a patch, and other go for a refund..Then comes the best part! SOME of fellow costumers or simmers call us FREELOADERS, MOANERS, UNSUPPORTIVE TO THE COMUNITY, when we simply want what we've paied for, thus having to fight both developers and some fellows as well...For those not in the know here are some hard evidence......SSW: lots of potencial, given they'r first atempt to do an add on (a very complex one) but the lack of support is unbeliveble and the majority of the anouced functions are not implemented yet, the ones that are, are full of bugs and an overal result of an early beta release at an insane price using a machine bind registry system that uses hacking technics!!!PMDG: At the same level of SSW, product incomplete full of bugs, errors even in the switch logic!!!, failed to provide the anouced features tha will be adressed in PAY upgrade, equaly an BETA product at an insane price, and worst for those who asked for a refund they say "We cannot provide refunds for electronicaly sold producs" What??? they mean tha an ELECTRONIC company selling an ELECTRONIC product accepting ELECTRONIC payment, cannot provide and ELECTRONIC refund?? give me a breack!!! An they even have the means to know if a person has the product instaled or not! so once a person clears the sofware from the computer and asks for a justifyable refund it should be granted, plus they'r using a machine bind registry system that uses hacking technics. So We have to trust them but they do not trust us...PSS the new release is equaly full of bugs,I was not expecting much of PSS, they are a god entertainement titles company that sells light products, not quite it the majors leage, but generaly bug free functional to the anouced degree and with a good registry system and well priced. When they said that they were making the new 330/340 with NEW panels I belived them, but when I saw the panel I saw just a litle upgrade to the 320 nothing more has been aded, same functions same panel only a bigger outside model.....Generaly we are seeing rushed releases with incomplete untested nonfuncional overpriced products, and wortsa that this the developers expect us to buy them, acept them no questions asked, after lurring us with Lyes.... We all have to impose ourselfs in order to prevent these situations from happening again....thank's for your time, remember it was MY opinion..jos
  11. VC to me is only eye candy. slow refresh, dificult access. only when I'm fully established in cruise I might check it.....2D for ILS noting more smooth.Jos
  12. disable texture smoothing in the nvidia control panel!(see atachment)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35553.jpg
  13. They (ssw) asked the users if they could take the weekend off to sleep since they've been very busy these days and after the patch the users allowed them a couple of days.... so you may have your airbus runing by monday morning... (i know it's a pain to wait....)Jos
  14. All went fine with my NEW installation! I guess now I know how to do it! ;) it's tricky mind you... Anyway I was doing a non rev flight since I'm still testing the plane, and during cruise after checking all the systems, went to the aft upper panel and just for curiousity changed the default "auto" temperature to the cockpit and cabin to a warmer temp and guess what!!?!?? in the EICAS the THERMOMETER STARTED TO RAISE!!!!!! :) and when defaulted the values started to descend.... this is an amazing litle detail, turning this add-on in an (hopefully) near future a true must have. Of corse that in its current state it still need A LOT of fixing but it's going in the right way....Jos
  15. IMHO most people neglect the motherboard factor! Performance is not just a combination of massive memory, huge processor and insane graphic board, these things are assembled in a motherboard who then conects the components and provides bus speed, bandwith, and control over each of the items. It's better to save a few $ in the processor in order to acquire a better MB than to spend all on the above and buy a MB with pocket money.... Also a good MD must be taken care of in order to obtain maximum performance! The bios is there for a reason, deactivate the port's and periferals that you don't use, always use an updated BIOS and always use up to date MB drivers.Note: A good motherboard doensn't necessary mean a brand one with a "performance" name on the box! It's the chipset that makes the difference, there are various exemples showing that two equal systemsdifering only in the chipset have significant performance diferences...Jos
  16. Simple, disable virtual memory in the control panel, under system! ;)
  17. A few weeks ago I've posted this http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search , now with the new patch the same thing remains.I honestly could'nt care less about the virtual cabin, I dont use it except for tweak or benchmark purposes. I prefer that the priorities be given to better system implementation or bug squashing and I would not touch this subject again, whoever since PMDG is releasing some more liverys (eye candy), I tought that this needed to be fixed, and also the 2500 ft callout.....Maybe PMDG forgot to add these issues to the bug list?Thank's Jos
  18. I have my virtual memory deactivated ,as a result a lot of memory is used upon system boot( around 128mb) but the boot is faster (it doesn't need to write to the swap file) and I get no HDD activity light unless loading some file, I never experienced a "virtual memory set too low" with 1GB of phisical...All in all I get a faster smoother system without swapfile.Jos
  19. Now that you have 1GB disable virtual memory and you will see some more inprovements in your system: Lower boot and load times.
  20. I too did a complete install of the sofware (both fs2002 and fs9) I've noticed that the complete one in FS2002 caused after the instalation a fase of "decompressing the scenery database" or word to this efect. In FS9 I've not seen this fase upon instalation, whoever I do not have any performance problems, in fact it runs much better than FS2002 even with some add-ons I've instaled....Jos

    Urgent

If you just upgraded from your prior setup then the best you can do is to backup your files an do a complete system format and reinstall, use the most up to date set of drivers for ALL your system devices! I know it's a pain and is hard work, but if you what the best performance from your system this is the ONLY way....Jos
  22. you already have it!You can chose 2D only model or 2D panel/ 3D cockpit or 2D panel 3D cockpit/cabin each one with the ful range of livery'sJos
  23. Found in 737-700 southwest classic livery with first class ( didn't test in others but I belive is a model problem not a texture one) in FS2002 (not tested in my fs09) upon using remover ad doing a complete reinstall.... Afer this reinstall my FPS and thus the somoothness fell down a lot! I was able to see 20 fps locked in virtualcabinEdit:Forgot to signJos
  24. Yeap! You guessed it... BUUUUUMMMMPPPPPPPIt's been a few days now since we are looking from an answer! How hard could it be to say something PMDG?Jos
