June 17, 200520 yr I along with my fellow simmers participated in the Microsoft FS Survey a while back, now I've been sent an e-mail with an unique ID code and request to download 2 pieces of software that will log my actions while playing and send a report back to microsoft each time I fire up FS9. Has anybody installed the software yet?-Mike Patel Manny Patel

June 17, 200520 yr I also got the email, but have been too busy to follow up...I'll do it over the weekend...just hope the monitoring software does not slow down FS performance....shermp.s. does anyone think that this survey means that FS10 is in development? Let's hope...
June 17, 200520 yr I also received the e-mail this morning, but have yet to install the files. One point I noted is that you will need the registration # to get into FS9 on the first time you run it with these new files installed.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
June 17, 200520 yr I'm not the chosen one, but if I were I would not install it... You know Big Brother and all... As if the Patriot Act isn't enough... :DKev
June 17, 200520 yr Thanks for the feedback guys. After some thought I think I'll pass on this one. I've got enough people in real life monitoring me !I just dont want to install the software at this time. Sorry to let you down Dillon ! Manny Patel
June 17, 200520 yr Yupp installed the files without any problems, only a minor one with the timebomb entry in the fs9.cfg file was reading 5/31/2005 instead of 5/31/2006.This small error had been reported by a few persons. So just go ahead :)Johnny"I'LL BE BACK"[div align=center]http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/josve/aat.jpg ][/div
June 17, 200520 yr Does anyone have even an inkling of an idea why on earth Microsoft would wish to monitor our flight sim habits:-) CheersDan
June 17, 200520 yr I received the email and I won't be installing the software. What on Earth are they thinking? There is nothing cosha about that email. It could be from anybody.
June 17, 200520 yr They'd be sadly disappointed monitoring my usage of FS. Most of it these days consists of short little bouts of jumping into the program, going to the scenery area I'm working on, and seeing the results of my most recent addition or edit. I hardly ever get to just fly anymore. I would agree that the potential is there for someone to abuse a monitoring program like that and that there should be a rather lengthy verification for the user that the software and letter truly are coming from Microsoft before agreeing to use it. I'd also find myself wondering just where and how I should be flying to get my own agenda across to MS. I remember once taking this personality test for a job application where they asked all kinds of personal questions. I found myself answering as I thought they'd want me to answer. I've vowed since then to never again let someone look into my soul like that. Sorry Microsoft.Art Martin
June 17, 200520 yr Moderator Been doing it for the last month. No problems - lots of misconceptions. they are NOT monitoring your FS habits. At the end of every flight, a window opens asking if you would like to send a report - you can say yes or no. A couple of questions about the flightand that's it. NO SPYWARE - NO PARANOIA.And yes, I did check with a port monmitor - nothing is being sent w/o my approval. BTW, it works on multiplayer flights also.VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
