July 5, 200421 yr I just found this list of FMC software revisions and I noticed a lot of interesting features in the latest 10.5 version. Are there any plans of adding them to the PMDG 737NG in the (near) future? I'd love to see GLS and IAN and the improved VNAV (FPA limit) :)regards,Wanne.Update 10.5 - 10 Feb 2003 - Ref 737-SL-34-172Approach Ref Entries- The Approach Ref page will now accept landing flap entries of 0, 1, 2, 5, 10 or 25 for the landing flaps, with a corresponding manual Vref entry, in addition to the standard landing flap settings (15, 30, 40) for non-normal procedures such as landing with flap asymmetries. July 6, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-Were we to do that update- it would happen AFTER the 747-400 is released. ;-)We haevn't discussed it- but we don't like to say "Never" here either.... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
July 6, 200421 yr Now you've made me even more impatient regarding the 747 release! :) I hope that some 10.5 features already made it into the 747... but I guess we have to wait until the package is released. It's hard to find any info about 747 FMC versions on the web but you probably did not faithfully reproduced this hardware/software version (from aviation today):One of the questions at the last AMC in San Francisco was asked by Korean airlines, about FMC (flight management computer) lock-up during loading of the navigation database. The database must be loaded every 28 days. The 747-400 load takes 30 to 40 minutes. During that period, the power must remain on the system without interruption. Normally, nothing will happen when a power interrupt of less than 200 milliseconds occurs. If there is a power interrupt of more than 200 milleseconds, the FMC will lock up and the only way to cure it is by means of a master reset, which cannot be accomplished in the aircraft. The power interrupt is not caused by a failure in the aircraft. Usually the aircraft is parked at the gate of the home-base airport. There is a lot of activity in and around the aircraft. At a certain moment, somebody just pulls the plug and the aircraft is dead. No power, no sound, no light. In many cases, the power will return after a couple of minutes but the damage has already occurred. The FMC is frozen. Cycling the circuit-breaker won't help. The FMC must be removed and sent to the shop.Quick release of the aircraft is possible only if there is a serviceable FMC on a nearby shelf. Otherwise, the airline will face a delay or even worse, another 747 will have to take over the already delayed flight. The shop technician will later clear the appropriate fault, reset the FMC, and accomplish the test prior to release of the FMC. No repair is required, the box is in perfect condition. If the avionics shop is nearby, it can take a day to clear the wrong bit and return the FMC to stock. If the shop is elsewhere (in another country) or on another continent, then it is bad news. Some 747-400 operators claim six to eight delays per year due to the above described FMC lock-up.regards,Wanne.
July 6, 200421 yr This is quite interesting Wanne...:-) And I'm so glad to that PMDG never stop going forward and improving their already great products... Is a real pleasure to have a company like that. Really. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
July 6, 200421 yr Yeah, 747 rocks! Lets just play that our operator has not changed the software yet :-walksmile
July 6, 200421 yr "I'd love to see GLS and IAN..."Once a day in the mirror is quite enough for me, thanks.... *:-* Cheers.IAN.
July 6, 200421 yr Commercial Member Wanne-We'll produce a special version for you... If the power is lost to your machine while updating the database, it'll lock you out of your machine by adding a random CMOS password and you'll have ot haul your computer down to the local shop to have it reset....You can't say we don't aim to please! ;-) Robert S. Computers are easy, unplug it, yank the battery, hit the "Soft" on/off switch a few times (discharges the caps), wait a few minutes reinstall battery. Presto, no need for the shop!Ah, a little humor never hurts. Thanks for the excellent Sim.Best
