July 14, 200421 yr Hi allcan anyone with a similiar system to mine inform me what sort of performance are you getting with the PMDG aircraft in external and VC view.I am getting horrible stutters which makes this ac virtually unplayable, but when i chose a default plane like the 737 it is all smooth,so it boils down to my CPU / GPU not good enough or the PMDG is too demanding with too much high textures etc. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
July 14, 200421 yr Clayton, are you using clouds, have you installed the replacement sets avail in the library, where are you sliders set? what are your AI, Autogen setting? The PMDG 737 series flew really well on my old system and it was not as good as yours. There are plenty of tips in the main Avsim MSFS forum. It may seem a little overwhelming how much tweaking can be done but I assure you it will be worth it. Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."
July 14, 200421 yr Author thx for your input Booneyes i have tried every tweak in the book,i am running on zero AI as i fly on vatsim all the timei have clouds set to 2D only my sliders are all half way autogen etc, ive even downed textures for the plane itself,i dunno what to doother planes seem to be smooth - the default ones, this is the only one giving trouble. July 14, 200421 yr Hi Clayton,I had problems with stutters when flying the PMDG on my previous pc. Upgrading ram from 512MB to 1GB made the flying much smoother. I just checked memory allocation for FS9 on my pc. With default 737-400 FS9 used 247MB. With PMDG 737-700 (VC and Cabin) 497MB was allocated by FS9.If I had to make a choice between an upgrade of CPU/mobo, graphics card OR memory, I would go for another 512MB in your case. Anybody disagree?Good luck :) Ulf B
July 14, 200421 yr AYE!As memory is perty cheap that's what I would opt for as a first step yes. Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|

You can find it in Avsims library. If your machine runs better with it I would say more ram would help a lot.I use 1 gig of memmory and notice no difference with FSAutostart, I did however when I had 512mb. It's worth a try (free) and gives you a good indication wether or not your running out of recources (ram).Regards
July 15, 200421 yr Yes, FSAuto Start is a winner, plus try flying without any pesky clouds! Also, I reduced my screen resolution at one point and the frames improved dramatically. (Make sure it matches the desk top).Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."
July 15, 200421 yr Hi, I noticed in your signature that you use Direct X 8.1 Two questions here.......are you using FS2002 or FS9?If you are using FS9, then are you sure that its Direct X8.1 you have installed? Because I remember that for me, FS9 bluntly refused to install untill I downloaded and installed Direct X9.Anyway, I'm using FS9 with an AMD2200+ a Ti4600 with 128M RAM, with the ASUS A7V333 (RAID disabled) and 1.5GB RAM (PC2700). I had 512M RAM, and I did find that the PMDG737 ran rather slowly on my computer. As a matter of fact, I stopped flying it altogether. But as another poster said, RAM was the cheapest thing to upgrade at the time. With the 1.5GB RAM, I now have Scenery complexity set to MAX. Autogen set to Very Dense and UT with AI always set to 100%. The trade off for 100% AI, is that I went into the addon scenery folder and removed ALL AFCAD files that UT installed. So I'm using only Default afcads. This means less aircraft at airports and aircraft parking in the wrong place, but higher smoother FPS on approach. If I want to do plane spotting at a particular airport, I simply put the AFCAD file back in. I've noticed that these addon AFCAD files causes stutters in certain areas (for example over New York City airports) even when flying along at 33000ft. Any way, take a look at this thread as well, and implement some of the suggestions given there. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=25&mesg_id=25I especially like the sound settings. I have an (OLD, OLD) Soundblaster Live! Value which I purchased in 2001 or so for $30. With FS9, I've been plagued with these constant "crackling" sounds of varying degrees whenever I use certain addon aircraft. The general advice here was to either get the latest drivers from the soundblaster site (which I have) or to upgrade the sound card. Well those sound settings in that thread totally illiminated the "crackling" sounds. You'll find more useful information there too.BTW, contrary to popular belief, I'm using FS9 with Norton Internet Security enabled and Norton Antivirus Autoprotect turned off. Still getting great performance.Sorry for the longish post. Hope something in there helps you.
