July 14, 200421 yr Hi,Lately I noticed on my last VATSIM online flights that my TCAS shows yellow traffic advisories when on the ground before takeoff even though there are no other a/c around.Anyone else noticed this or knows what the reason might be?
July 14, 200421 yr You'll see yourself on the ground right now - Lee knows about it and I think there is some work being done to try to address that.Seeing yourself will generate alerts on the ground in TCAS, in VATSIM or not. What I end up doing is testing on the ground, and using the RA mode when I'm rolling for take-off.This said, there are issues with network updates sometimes on VATSIM, and I quickly learned to turn off a/c collisions because in a long line for take-off on busy nights, I would invariably get hit, or hit someone due to lag in the updates, a nuisance as when FS resets, you're back at the gate...Last point, trust your friendly VATSIM controller...Cheers,
July 14, 200421 yr Author Thanks for that info Etienne, guess that's what I'm seeing then. Have included two pics here showing the "ghost" on the TCAS as well as the situation around my a/c and that no other planes are even near me.Find it a bit strange though that I haven't heard about this before here in the forum, or maybe I just missed it.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84101.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84102.jpg
July 14, 200421 yr Quick question.Do you always use a different callsign on VATSIM sir ? Regards,Brian Doney
July 14, 200421 yr Author Hello Brian,No, I always use the same callsign when flying online on VATSIM - SK696.Why?
July 14, 200421 yr OK, and are you certain that every time you join the MP session in FS, that that same callsign is always used in the PLAYER NAME field ? Regards,Brian Doney
July 14, 200421 yr Author OK, I thought you was asking about the callsign I use when loggin in to VATSIM.Not sure honestly about the MP name in FS9, will have a look. Is it imperative that they match? Don't remember ever chaning the MP name in FS9 from it's default.
July 16, 200421 yr Yep, your MP Player Name must match you VATSIM callsign, or AIBridge will see 2 aircraft, hence the "ghost".EDIT: ALso there is a catch. The MP name must be set before FS9 starts for the session you will fly. So, you can either start FS, change the name, quit and restart, OR you can edit the FS9.cfg before you start FS. Not a problem if you always use the same callsign, though.Bottom line, FS must be LOADED with the right name form the start. Regards,Brian Doney
July 16, 200421 yr Author Checked this out now and I do use the same name both in FS9 and on VATSIM and I'm always using the same name, so this 'ghost' I see must be due to something else.
July 16, 200421 yr I don't think entering the exact same names in VATSIM and MP session by itself has anything to do with AIBridge making out the difference. Nonetheless they should be the same.I make sure these are both same names and yet I always have mnyself appearing as traffic on the TCAS.What must be done is: - Use AIBridge v2.4 (for FS2002) - Use AIBridge v3.0 (for FS2004)Once you fire up AIBridge, in the "Player Name" box, enter you callsign (the VATSIM callsign which should be the same as your MP session)Then in the menu select "Multiplayer connect" and click on TCP/IP.Now an IP address box should pop up. Enter the IP address as 127.0.0.1 (this is a loopback IP address that points back to your PC)Once this is entered the unwanted picture of u in the TCAS should disappear. Works like a charm for me.BTW, I am not using the PMDG 800/900 but I am using Lee's TCAS guage. And the above scenarion is what I use for FS2002 (i don't fly online with FS9 yet)Cheers,Terence
July 16, 200421 yr Author Hi Terence,I don't use AI Bridge, not sure what that is for? Part from that I belive I already do everything you say.Well...can live with the 'ghost' a/c but of course it would be nice if there was a simple way to get rid of it.Cheers,
July 16, 200421 yr Try this.1. Make a safe copy of your FSTCAS2v7.dll file.2. Download ILH_TCAS_v4.zip from AVSIM's library.3. Install the TCAS2v7.dll from that zip into FS' main folder.4. See if the ghosting is improved.5. Report back here.6. If anything goes wrong, go back to that saved TCAS2v7.dll file. Don't tell me you skipped step 1 and need the file again.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)
July 16, 200421 yr >I don't think entering the exact same names in VATSIM and MP>session by itself has anything to do with AIBridge making out>the difference. Nonetheless they should be the same.Well, you can believe what you like, but this very thing causes an identical problem, sorry this isn't the case for either of you. Your tone implies that I am either fabricating this idea, or that I haven't a clue what I am talking about, neither of which is true, I can assure you. There are always those that know better, though...Good luck figuring it out. Regards,Brian Doney
July 17, 200421 yr Author Hi Brian,Not sure if I/we offended you in any way, but if that's the case I apologize.Cheers,
