July 23, 200421 yr Wanted to share with you the results of having just installed these new babies with the NG. Of course I captured the high end but nontheless I am seeing an increase over the previous ones.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84992.jpgBest Wishes,[h4]Randy J. July 23, 200421 yr hello randy,I have a question How did you make to have such great frame rate :)I have good fps with no clouds around 45 (limitated to 31 fps) but when weather is cloudy my fps are half of clear weather.I had xp1800+ (fsb266) + 1 go pc3200 + 9600 xt 500-340 so quite same as you cg. What AA-AF did you use?Did you think that with xp3000+(fsb333) or xp3200+(fsb400) I will have good fps (around 35) in cloudy weather. I heard that fs2004 is really cpu dependant. What type of clouds textures did you use? Did your great fps in only for XP64 or xp barton will also help me (as they cost more than 100 euros)Thanks for your remarks
July 23, 200421 yr Thanks for the news Randy. Usually nVidia updates drivers almost every month, but this time they must have been delaying because it was about 3.It's his processor. I have recently bought an AMD XP 3200 but now I wish I would have spent a little more for an AMD 64. It shows how much of a difference there is. If I flied in the same spot, I get random frame rates that can jump up to 100, but about 30 is the average when flying a descent.Nick B.Continental Airlines 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz (Equal to 2.8 ghz)400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
July 23, 200421 yr i tried them a couple of days ago but i had a lower frames rates than old drivers so went back to what i have been using for ages. Gone are the days i used to look forward to new drivers and their subsequent increase in performance, up untill the 45.23 drivers i got a fairly big increase with each release but since then each driver has resulted in a reduction and some have caused other problems.
July 23, 200421 yr Actually, I just now rolled back to the 56.72 because for some reason it stutters when you look to your left or right in the Virtual Cockpit model. I've just rolled it back it works good again. The only problem I have that was fixed in the new one is it taking forever to load the menu when I press ALT in full screen. Somtimes it takes like a minute to load, anyone else have that problem on the 56.72 drivers?Nick B.Continental Airlines 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz (Equal to 2.8 ghz)400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
July 23, 200421 yr Randy please, one question :Are the VC gauges running fine with your GeForce 5700??? By fine I mean something like 15/20 fps...Because I got an ATI 9700 Pro and I'm really frustrated how ATI drivers handle PMDG's VC gauges...Actually I'm serously thinking about trading my ATI...Thanx in advance... Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
July 23, 200421 yr Author I set the PMDG gauge menu as far as it will go. I believe they are not as smooth in the VC as I would like and is one major reason why I stick to 2D flying. This 5700 bites compared to a ATI 9800, don't give it up for anything less than the newer Nvidias or ATIs though. I get great FPS all around, yes the 64 bit CPU helps somewhat. I run the replacement cloud textures from the library and turn OFF AA and Vsync. I don't believe my rig can handle much AA otherwise my FPS would be 20-30 range insted of 50 average. Flight for me is about smoothness, the looks are good enough in the cockpit and are clear, I could care less about the hills 40 miles away.. Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. July 24, 200421 yr Hi Randy !I see that you already got Windows XP 64, is there a difference in fps between XP and XP 64, due to the Athlon 64 ?ThanksMarcello
July 24, 200421 yr Author No not at least right now. Flight sim runs very bad if not at all and have not gone one minute without a hard freeze. Too early to tell but I do believe there is much more to come in regards to Windows 64.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
