737NG - problem with FMC on intro flight!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Please help!!! I just purchased what I thought to be the best 737 add on software but after now running throu the intro pdgm flight I keep having some bad probs with the MCP panel and FMC. Basically everything is going ok until during the climb after the manual instructs you to engage auotopilot 1 at 1000 ft and click LNAV then VNAV - this is were I have kittens! - the light comes on on the LNAV after i press it and the light comes on on the VNAV but soon after the stupid thing goes out and the FMC says "VNDISCONTIUED" and the plane wont climb automatically. Can anyone help - Im sick to death of running through the manual only to have this happen again and again :(

Iron chicken (if that is your real name - please read the forum rules :) ), you don't by any chance have a force feedback joystick? There was a thread on this earlier in this forum and I'm sure some searching will find it for you. I had a friend with the same problem and at least for him the solution, as a post in the thread suggested, was to disable the force feedback effect. Try it!

This is not anything like the default 737s, this is a very advanced 737 simulator, in fact, the most advanced NG ever made for the home computer. And being that this is the case, one cannot just hop into it and expect to be able to master it. The manuals cover function but not technique. There are Tutorials on the Avsim library that you can download that will take you through proper setup etc. If perhaps you do have force feed back make sure to disable it or it will kick you into control wheel steering modes...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
