The Airlines do file SID, and STAR's in their flight plans because they become familiar with what SIDs and STAR's are routinelyassigned on their regularly scheduled routes. In FlightSim unless you are flying online with one of the online ATC services etc the best way really is to look through all of the choices and select the SID/STAR you feel is most appropriate for your Flight Plan. More times than not the SID/STAR route that most lines up with your direction of Flight will probably be the correct one.Regards.Ernie.

Therefore, as part of your flight planning you should obtain all the charts for your departure and arrival airports. MyAirplane.com is a good source for domestic travel. In addition you should check the current and forcasted weather for both airports, paying particular attention to your destination.Doing the above will give you a pretty good clue as to what the active runway will be. Or at least the direction of landing. Pretty much the only time this will change while you are enroute is if the destination has an approaching front which can change the landing direction 180 degrees rather quickly. Again a check on the weather can warn you of this and having all the charts will make it rather easy to see what adjustments you will need to make.More specifically, your planned route had FAK as the last waypoint. A quick check of the STARS shows that the Dupont Four(DPNT4) is the only STAR that contains that waypoint. Another note is that KPHL basically has runways running East and West. DPNT4 narration indicates that you will be vectored into your final approach prior to TERRI. So in this case it won't matter what runway is active or even the direction as you will be vectored in. So file the last part of your plan as FAK.DPNT4 KPHL.Enjoy your flight.

But with Esky most ATC are only online for about 3 hours and somtimes I catch them with only 1.5 hours left in session so I find myself taking alot of time to put a flight plan together and get in the air, by that time the session is almost over and I dont have time to fly:-hang. the live atc can find a runway in a jiff and I would like to atleast not to take an hour to get a flight plan together. I would like to thank everyone that posted here; for all your help.Ken
