Fun on the Glide Slope

I just landed after a enjoyable flight from DFW to ATL. My Active Sky gave me a couple of nice Thunderstorms on the way along with some Turbulence and everything was uneventful until I positioned my self on the approach to 8L at Atlanta. I heard approach talking to all these other Ultimate Traffic Delta planes and it seemed at one point that they were clearing the entire Delta Fleet to intercept the ILS from about 24 miles out. Wait a minute, I am about 24 miles out!!!!! . :( Now I intercept the ILS and I am watching the targets in TCAS like a hawk, and I hear Traffic , Traffic, and the VSI is flashing red and I hear " Pull Up" and I look at what appears to be about 4 targets all around me at the same altitude.... The only thing TCAS didn't yell was " Bail out", which might not have been a bad idea under the circumstances. Hey I gotta make dinner, and I'm not going around because I was on the ILS first.... Sooo.. I speed up to about 180 and pulled ahead of the surrounding traffic, thinking that if I can just get to the runway first, they will have to make all the other flights go around. I dove for the runway ( I would never do this in real life, of course) and managed to flare just in time with 40 degrees of flaps and pasted it on the runway. Then for about the next 4 minutes I heard the tower telling about 7 flights to go around as I sat by the side of the runway watching all the missed approaches....I was the only one that made it in :) Now to the kitchen, for some Pasta.

I know what you mean. UT tends to have a "few" more planes in the air than is realistic (to say the least) at larger airports... when traffic is set to 100% in FS.I tend to set FS traffic to 50% when using UT and flying between busy airports. I wish UT could check it's own data base of scheduled flights, and produce AI spawnings based on that. What I really dislike is sitting behind a number of planes on the taxiway, and having one, two or all of them suddenly "disappear". Realistic? Not!Murray

Pasta sounds good; coincidentally, I'm having some tonight.

Agreed. Disappearing planes drives me nuts!!Not sure of the logic behind this, but kind of kills the reality a bit. Still, nothing's perfect and it's great anyway.Tim
