Why do YOU love the B737?

Featured Replies

PMDG have done an excellent job of simulating the 737NG, but why exactly do you love the 737...?Running a full-motion simulator company, I'm lucky enough to have 'flown' everything from B727 to B777 and A300 to A340... but the absolute favourite is the B737NG & 300/400/500 (A320 in 2nd place). For me the 737 has the most atmospheric cockpit of all, and I love the way it is so over-engineered; every part of it feels indestructible. It feels more powerful and responsive than the larger Boeings, and more involving than the A320/A330/A340. And in the NG, the 'glass' instrumentation seems better presented and more modern than the modern Airbuses. How about you?

If you've ever flown on a lightly loaded 737-200 on a 40 minute flight, departing in rain with flaps 1, and landing with flaps 40, sat next to the reversers...You'll know why I love them:)That is the reason why I wish PMDG would expand the 737product line, they have the experience with the NG...now all we need is the rest. I think if they did it it would kick dreamfleets ####, and I for one would buy it......I really just want PMDG panels to fly with my 737 models...Oh yeah, if you want to know favourite parts of the 737series, I'd have to say the -200 cockpit at night time....beautiful:7

Agree with you completely regarding earlier 737's - come on PMDG, lets have a -200 and a -300/400/500. Looking forward to the extra workload!

Exactly:P If you want some help feel free to ask hehe!

James,Is there any chance that Virtual Aviation will be able to get hold of some NG simulator time in the near future? The web site advertises it, but no time slots ever appear for it. Kim Topley

The NG represents the perfect ratio between modern conception of engineering and manual input into flight. The cabin is as quiet and comfortable as can be and the flight deck is the most inviting place in the world. It's the atmosphere that pulls me.The whole aircraft gives me the feeling that it is "good as it is".Besides that, the triple seven even tops that with a huuuge fuselage...Cheers,

Kim,We do get *some* time on the fabulous 737NG sims at Gatwick and Luton, but not as much as we'd like so it tends to get snapped up fast. It's just about enough to satisfy the demand from people who have registered with us as *only* wanting the NG (mostly PMDG users!) So the NG dates don't normally make it to 'general release' on the website availability page.To register with us simply send an email with your daytime contact number to [email protected] and we'll contact you when any 737NG dates become available (no obligation to book).Best wishes,

I think it is because you are close enough to the engines, you get the complete effect of sight and sound. You have to fly the plane, it does not fly it for you like a lot of the Airbus'. The 747 is awsome too, it has another entire effect....MASS. The 777 is modern and kind of similar to the A3X0 family from Airbus. The twins 757/767 are more far forward of the engines so I think they loose some of that fly by the seat of your pants feel. I think the 727 would have been an absolute dream to fly, it had power which you could hear and feel, it had response of a sports car, and you did not have a computer countering every single input because it took it out of spec. However it is those very features that made the 727 deadly if you did not respect it. I think the DC9s would be similar to the 737, but it was a lot more underpowered.
