September 8, 200421 yr Please can you help - in the 737 load manager program, does the "cargo" setting control pax baggage, or does the weight of each pax include a certain amount for baggage? - i.e. Cargo weight is pure cargo, entirely distinct from pax baggage.I ask because in hi-density configs, there is not much spare weight at all for baggage, and virtually none for additional cargo, without exceeding MLW.Many thanks for any advice offered.Tim Hall
September 9, 200421 yr If you think about it, a pax usually has an allowance of 15Kg + 5Kg carry on luggage. Thats about 44lbs. Most probably don't carry that much, especially on domestic and commuter routes. Even if they did, 100 peoples full luggage would only amount to 4400lbs in the hold.An other interesting question, is... You aren't weighed at the airport, so i persume a pax's weight is assumed from, whether you are male/female, adult or child.A plane full of adult 18 year old Japanesee students, might weigh significantly less than a plane full of commuting 6 foot Rugby players or wrestlers.I wonder what "a pax" weighs on the load sheet.
September 9, 200421 yr To my information a pax weights exactly 77kg on the loadsheet.. :-) And for planning every pax carries 13kg of luggage...
September 9, 200421 yr Thanks all - so if I understand correctly, the pax weight includes their baggage weight - freight is discreet
September 9, 200421 yr >Thanks all - so if I understand correctly, the pax weight>includes their baggage weight - freight is discreetWell...I think it depends. Matze indicates that his airline plans 77 Kg per pax (169.4 lbs) and 13 Kg (28.6 lbs) for luggage. If I remember correctly, one pax for the PMDG load planner is 180 lbs- right in the middle, so that could include luggage or not.Does anyone else know some common numbers are used by airlines?-Simon
September 9, 200421 yr Average weight information about the passengers - male, female, child, infant - are entered into the departure control system for EACH passenger when you check in for the flight. Your baggage is weighed (European concepts usually permit 20 kgs/person in economy class). There is also a max. weight limit for your hand luggage, which is 8-10 kgs on most European airlines (not low-cost). Some airlines also enter carry-on weight into the system during check-in.The ramp agent will add that all up, and you get a very good calculation of the actual weight; quite precise as a matter of fact.Regards,Zoltan Hegedus
September 10, 200421 yr agreed...not to mention that default manifest pax weights in the dispatch system may vary from season to season CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
September 12, 200421 yr I'm really sorry to be a nag with this - I'm anxious not to abuse all your better natures, however, as far as I can see, there is not yet a definitive answer to this question. Can anyone advise. Many thanks for all the contributions so farTim Hall
September 12, 200421 yr Hi, Tim->I'm really sorry to be a nag with this - I'm anxious not to>abuse all your better natures, however, as far as I can see,>there is not yet a definitive answer to this question. Can>anyone advise.I think the definitive answer is that there is no definitive answer- it depends on airline policy. For our purposes, perhaps someone from PMDG could just indicate the per pax weight they chose when creating the load planner includes individual baggage or not?-Simon
September 13, 200421 yr I see it thus:The loadmanager.ini file specifies 180lbs 'seatweight'.Since the cabin and the freight compartments are being loaded seperately in the Loadmanager, I assume the seatweight represents an avarage person's weight including carry-on luggage. The suitcases etc. go into the freight compartments, so I assume these are handled seperately, and you have to plan for them seperately. This will also allow your VA to deliver the luggage to a different destination as the pax's :-hah Best,Martijn
September 13, 200421 yr Hi, Martijn->The loadmanager.ini file specifies 180lbs 'seatweight'.>Since the cabin and the freight compartments are being loaded>seperately in the Loadmanager, I assume the seatweight>represents an avarage person's weight including carry-on>luggage. The suitcases etc. go into the freight compartments,>so I assume these are handled seperately, and you have to plan>for them seperately.Great! And since the weight is found in loadmanager.ini, enterprising pilots who prefer a different weight (to include checked baggage, for example), could change it themselves. >This will also allow your VA to deliver the luggage to a>different destination as the pax's :-hah Darn it- I was developing a $15 add on that allows pilots to misdeliver luggage, plays the sound of a screaming baby at very high volume and works with the "rumble" pad you can buy to feel like someone kicking the back of your seat for the entire length of your flight!-Simon
