Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply. I know Randy is trying to be helful too. I appeciate the distinction between the AFDS and the MCP. Yes, its a little different in behavior than the systems on the 757/767 --but that's part of the fun and why I have a sim that can be adapted to be various planes rather than a fixed flightdeck. What I see is happening fits events just as you describe them -- that's why I am so puzzled as to why I suddently lose the autopilot. The problem may well be hardware in origin. My sim, while not a full flightdeck, is still reasonably elaborate, (I use the CP flight MCP -- and occasionally instead the Aeorsoft Australia MCP when I am too lazy to swap them -- and a lot of GoFlight mods) so it is possible some signal is getting into things and blowing the autopilot. I will have to do some more testing. I cannot speak to Ingo's situation though which is remarkably similar in description.Once I have had a chance to do some more testing of approaches (looks like a busy evening of touch and go's!) I will get back to you -- with pics of the PFD if still needed. How does one post a picture here? Simple cut and paste doesn't seem to work.Looking forward to the PMDG747RG

How does one post a picture here? Simple cut and paste doesn't seem to work. when you reply notice towards the bottom left the wording ATTACHMENT. Click on the CLICK HERE TO CHOOSE YOUR ATTACHMENTS. you will then see this boxhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90924.jpg Notice the BROWSE BUTTON. Use this to uload right off of your computer to Avsim's server. You must keep the size at 800x600 and no more than 125K. Photshop or Paintshop Pro will help out here. You will also want to save your pictures as JPEGS or GIF images. Click on the box that states what type (JPEG or GIF) and also check the "Check this box if you wish to embed attachment URL in the message text box". After successful upload this box will appear http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90927.jpg You will notice that it placed the link to the picture at the bottom of your post. You can noe just copy&paste to place it anywhere in the post and you can DELETE if you desire the ATTACHMENT LINK since you now have it contained within the post itself. Use the PREVIEW button to look over your post so you won't have to go back and edit it. Here is what this post looked like and the area where you can remove the extra link from the attachment are.. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90928.jpgBest Wishes,[h4]Randy J. I thought that is what you do but I can't get the dialog box to come up. Turned off my firewall, turned off pop-up blocking, and set security within IE as low as you can go, but it still won't come up and stay on the screen.RG
