To PMDG: Suggestion for 747

Featured Replies

Dear PMDG developers,I really love your 737 and I can't wait to get my hands on the 747. But there is one thing that I've been thinking about now for quite some time that could improve the experience even more. Maybe it's completely stupid (impossible to do) within the limitations of MSFS or it's more work than the 747 itself. I have no idea of the implementation of 3rd party airplanes into MSFS, but anyway:One of the big problems with PC based simulations is that you don't have enough space on the screen to place all the instruments on it at the same time. Of course you can use a second monitor as most (all) modern graphic cards have two video outputs but even then the available space is limited and maybe you want to have the second monitor for another outside view. So, wouldn't it be possible to have a separat program (running on a different computer) that displays the instruments (overhead panel, CDUs, throttel quadrant, radio unit, clock ...; PFD and ND would probably be too complicated), reacts to mouse inputs and exchanges their state with the main 747 simulation? I hope you get the idea.I know about the "experience panel" but I suppose you don't have an outside view so you can't use it e.g. for landing. I know that you already have enough work to do at the moment, so maybe not for the initial release but as an extension later on?Best regards Alexander Kappes

How about a Aerowinx PS1 style cockpit...that would be cool :-)Alex

I thought you could already do this by just undocking the window and dragging it to your second monitorm or did I dream that :-lol

Hiya!He suggested running parts of the panel on another computer

You are right, Tod. Ideally, I would like to have three outside views running on the "main" computer (with FS9 and the core PMDG 737 simulation on it) and the instruments on secondary computers. Probably, for the main panel of the 737 this would be more complicated due to the amount of information needed for them (especially the ND) but for those panels/instruments that only show binary buttons like the overhead panel or text like the CDUs it sounds not so complicated to me?!Any comments from the developers or is this idea completely unrealistic?Best regards Alexander Kappes
