September 17, 200421 yr Guys, this topic has been started at the Active Sky forum, but now it seems it maybe much more a problem with the PMDG itself.I am using the 737-800 and AS2004 as well (by the way: great combination!). When I am flying at high flight levels (370 or 380), and the weather is updating (wind or pressure changes), the nose of the aircraft starts to bounce up and down. Seems like the autopilot has problems to bring the a/c back to the right speed and altitude at the same time. Some guys at the AS2004-forum said it might be a problem of too much GW in combination of too less speed at too much altitude. So could you please have a look at my load configuration and tell me if there is anything wrong with it?Here it is:reference_datum_position= 52.786, 0.000, 1.861 // Vector of Boeing RFP to visual mode centre !! September 17, 200421 yr Commercial Member Alex,The PMDG airplanes come with a load configuring utility. Hand editing the aircraft.cfg could lead to undesirable results (and is not supported by PMDG)The Load manager can be found by navigating to your start button>Programs>PMDG Simulations>LoadManager_FS2004Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
September 17, 200421 yr Using AS with the PMDG is also not supported ;-)Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! September 17, 200421 yr Vin,of course I am using the load manager, but when when we were discussing this topic in the AS-Forum, Mats (PMDG Beta Team) told me to check my load configuration:"Have you checked it against raw data i.e. the aircraft.cfg file or did you just check with the load manager?I know for a fact that the porpoising can occur if your load is off limit. And I also know that faulty coordinates in the load section of the aircraft.cfg has been the culprit.Could you please add your load configuration as it looks in the aircraft.cfg?"We didn't get any further at the as-forum, so I thought it might be a good idea to move the whole topic to this support forum as it seems to not to be a problem of AS2004, BUT of PMDG-737. If you think I should not touch the aircraft.cfg (and if the entries in the load manager look quite okay) - do you have any other suggestions solving this problem?Alex
September 17, 200421 yr Arrgh, guys!okay, I made a mistake not telling that the problem doesn't only appear using AS2004 but also with other weather tools like FSMetar and so on. So as I already said: Seems not to be a problem of AS2004 BUT of the PMDG. By the way: At the as-forum they told me this forum might be the right place to discuss this topic - so it won't be very succesful sending me back to them... :-)Alex
September 17, 200421 yr Randy, That is not true!!I don't know if this is a remnant from the time when the wind shifts vreaked havoc amongst simmmers (not only PMDG). This was not a AS2004 problem. It was a problem within the FS9 wind engine. WIth the latest FSUIPC this problem should have been addressed (Thank you Pete Dowson). All I can say is that the PMDG and AS2004 is a perfect combination. And I think both Damian and Robert will second that!Cheers,MatsBeta team member for PMDGBeta team member for HiHi Simulations Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 17, 200421 yr Yes, and me as well. It's the best combination you can think of and I just voted for both products at the simflight election. But again: Would be very very great if we could solve this problem I am facing now already some weeks - and not to discuss all the time about what might be supported in which forum or not...Alex
September 17, 200421 yr Alexander,Your loads looks OK. Now we need some information on your flight. What's your Gross Weight? I.e. Aircraft Empty Weight plus Pax/Cargo weight plus Fuel weight. Also what altitude are you flying at? At what speed? What modes are engaged for the Automatic Flight SystemWould it be possible for you to post a screen shot or two when this is happening it would also be great!Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 17, 200421 yr Mats,I am very glad that we are going ahead with this topic, again a big thank you for your support. I have got some ATC job to do this evening but after that I will start another test flight in the night and add the required facts. So far, I can tell you, the problem only occures on FL 360-390 when LNAV and VNAV is engaged. When the aircraft starts to bounce and when I disengage the autopilot to stabilize the aircraft manualy, I have to fly some minutes before I can switch on the autopilot again. Otherwise, it will start to bounce again - and then it doesn't make any difference which mode of the automatic flight systems is engaged. All the other details like GW and Speed I will post this night or maybe tomorrow. It's a big relief knowing somebody who is trying to help!Alex
September 18, 200421 yr Ok guys, got some new facts from my last flight from Hamburg to Munich in Germany. The GW was 138.8, the cost index 50. At FL 370 this made the automatic flight system (LNAV and VNAV) perform a cruise flight at mach 0.80 (IAS 265) - which was very close at the red overspeed bar.Only some minutes after reaching cruise level the bouncing started. I disabled the autopilot, stabilized the aircraft manualy and went down to FL 330. There, the automatic flight system performed a mach 0.78 flight (IAS 286) - no problems at all.Could all this be helpful solving the problem?AlexPS: Nearly forgot - this is a screenshot I took during the bouncing...
September 18, 200421 yr Alex,I did a flight with your data yesterday night and found nothing strange. The A/C behaved perfectly throughout the flight.Did you do any tweaks to the NGs? Have you tried to remove and reinstall the NG? Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 19, 200421 yr Mats,No, didn't do any tweaks, very strange. Did some other flights in the meantime and again realized that the problem only occurs when flying on FL 370 oder 380. Perhaps you are right, will try it with reinstalling the NG - and report if it worked. Thanks for your great supportAlex
