September 18, 200421 yr Dear Group,I am wondering how to insert gates and parking ramps at departurewhen you build flight plans with fsbuild.couldn't find any leads in the user's manual. Thanks in advance.
September 18, 200421 yr As far as I know, the gate assignment is not part of the flight plan generated b7y FSBuild - I think it only has the SID/STAR fixes but that's it. You do have to select a runway for SID/STAR selection, but that's as far as it goes. You can check with Ernie on the FSBuild forum (www.fsbuild.com) but I believe the gate assignment is specific to an FS9 flight plan.
September 18, 200421 yr I Agree with Etienne on this. I haven't seen any possibility to set a gate in an FSBuild flightplan. But the question arises; Why would you like to put gates in the flightplan????As far as I know it's not even part of the FS9 flightplan. Just a part of the initial positioning of the aircraft. Which can be done with slew and/or saved flights.Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 19, 200421 yr Thanks for quick inputs.Mats, I'm trying to fly on vatsim and I was told to startfrom either gates or ramps.wondering how FSbuild users fly on vatsim...
September 19, 200421 yr Well,I am a VATSIM flyer as well as an FSBuild user. And this is my procedure:I produce my flightplan with DEP ICAO - ROUTE - ARR ICAO. As I fly in Europe I seldom enter any terminal procedures as they will be inwoked at the gate, and later before top of descent.I then start up FS and all other thingies needed but I do not connect to VATSIM.Once FS is started up at the right airport and I'm in the general apron area I use the SLEW mode to put me at a gate of my choice. If it's an airport I know well I'll try to position myself at a gate I know is used in real life for the company who's livery I'm using. Usually SAS or AC. If not it's a random choice.Once positioned at the right gate I connect to VATSIM and go ahead with baording and clearance.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 19, 200421 yr Another way is to choose one of the gates instead of a runway when you Select Airfield or whatever it /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
September 19, 200421 yr >I Agree with Etienne on this. I haven't seen any possibility>to set a gate in an FSBuild flightplan.>item #2 on the Fsbuild tips page shows how to pre-set a gate position for a particular airport.http://www.fsbuild.com/tipstricks.htmlRegards.Ernie,
September 19, 200421 yr Well waddayaknow! You always learn something new. And my apologies to Ernie! Guess I have to RTFM again! ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 19, 200421 yr Ernie,Thanks for the link above that you just gave me.By the way, Did you get my msg on FSbuild forum which asked forFSbuild 2.2 beta.Thanks.
September 19, 200421 yr >Thanks for the link above that you just gave me.>By the way, Did you get my msg on FSbuild forum which asked>for>FSbuild 2.2 beta.> I got it.I been on the road the last 2 weeks, I'm here in Denver at the Avsim conference right now. When I'm home in a few days I'll get back to work on the support requests that have been piling up since I left.Regards.Ernie.
September 20, 200421 yr The FSBUILD site seems to be down right now, so I can't compare my method with Ernie's tip. Thus I apologise in advance is this is a repeat of his suggestion.I use FSBUILD to create both the FS9 and PMDG plans. I then check the departure airport using AFCAD and check the parking listings to match a slot with my chosen livery/carrier. Most of the airports I use have had airline parking codes added to them. My PMDG aircraft also have the right airline codes so I get taxi directions to the right arrival gates also. Having determined a suitable DEP gate, I then edit the FS9 flight plan and replace the runway number in the "departure position" line with the gate number. For example, to depart from KMHT with my SouthWest aircraft, I might replace '35' (the flight plan chosen departure runway) with 'Gate A 3' (quotes are not needed, but are used here to show the gate number syntax - the spaces are needed). Now when you enter the simulation you will be at the right gate. Likely all that will be needed when loading the FMC with the flight plan is to check/change the departure runway if needed (depending upon prevailing weather). This also means that the stored plan(s) can be re-used without further editing or the need to slew around.Hope this helps.
September 21, 200421 yr Off topic, but still in the general area :-):Do you guys use the PMDG 737NG aircraft performance file that's available for FSBuild when building flight plans? I was wondering how well the data for speeds, fuel consumption, etc reflect real world performance? One thing that puzzles me about it is that you cannot set V speeds in the aircraft panel in FSBuild, although the prf file is specified as Detailed. I put this question on the FSBuild forum, but I'm afraid I did not understand Ernie's reply.Awaiting enlightenment!Cheers,Frank
