September 27, 200421 yr Hope someone can help. I recently installed FS2004 in a separate directory under programe files, on my machine. I was not satisfied with the performance, low frame rates etc. due to my slow processor. So I uninstalled FS2004 and kept on flying in FS2002, with my PMDG 737-700. Since then, all my AI traffic dissappeared, no traffic on the ground or in the air. I can't even talk to the ATC. It gives me the option to select ATC Clearance for instance, but nothing happens. I guess it could be because of an error in a config file, but don't know where to look. Help on this will be highly appreciated.Stephen
September 27, 200421 yr Hi Stephen,FYI: I have not seen an FS2K4 installation hurt an FS2K2 installation. I have seen FS2K2 AI Traffic get messed up when changing the AI traffic config parameters. The problem occurred when I was trying to tweak frame rates and kept changing the AI parameters. After a few changes the AI quit completely. I believe I had to delete the config file. I may have had to reinstall FSK2K. I don't remember exactly, but I would have tried to delete the config file first. Also, I would try a search and/or a post in the main FS forum. You will find lot's of people there with great experience on both versions of FS! George Morris
September 27, 200421 yr Oh, yess FS2004 can interfere with FS2002.If for some reason registry keys get mixed up and/or deleted. This can cause severe problems for a stand alone FS or when using both on the same PC.I've had people tell me about their full FS2002 getting uninstalled when they had actually un installed FS2004, which remained intact.I think with the uninstallation of FS9, even though it has it's own seperate registry keys etc from FS8, these may have accidentally got deleted during the uninstallation and could very well be the cause of the mess. However retaining lost registry keys is only possible to restore a previously backed up, post FS8 installation registry or re-install FS8.
September 27, 200421 yr Interesting, I have uninstalled both FS2K2 and FS2K4 a number of times and have not had any issues. Well its issues like these that keep the forums going! :-) George Morris
September 28, 200421 yr I do remember having issues with FS2002 and loosing ATC. Map a key (shift + A for example) to your AVIONICS MASTER SWITCH from the options menu and then try that key to see if this reinstates your ATC. This looks very different to your problem but I just thought I could throw in another suggestion. As for not seeing traffic on the ground, I'd probably check the replies above.
September 28, 200421 yr I think I fixed the problem. After re-installing FS2K2 I increased the AI traffic to 100% and Frame Rate to 100%. Restarted my system and all my traffic is back to normal. I now see ground and airborne traffic and my ATC is working again. When my frame in FS2K2 is set to less than 30% and traffic is 100% I only get about 30% traffic. Frame rate to 100% and traffic 100%, traffic 1000 times better. Not sure why the frame rate affect the traffic rate, but it does. Thanks for the advice, it is much appreciated.
