October 3, 200421 yr PMDG are you really considering a 777 inbetween the 744 and the MD-11 or did i misunderstand"I would also like to add that the addition of the new members allows us to develop two large aircraft simultaneously, as the core development teams are different... so if anything the addition of these two decreases the time it will take us to make the next airplane following the 744... such as a 777!Sincerely,Marc Harrington - PMDG"because if this is the case i think it would be a very popular move for as much as i love the 744 and am looking forwards too it it is a little dated where as the flight deck technology on the 777 is cutting edge and even more beautiful! I am in the cockpit of all the big comercial jets on a daily basis in my job but never do i cease to be amazed by the beauty of the 777 cockpit i simply have to sit and gaze every time i'm in it, its perfect from the pristine colour scheme to the layout and the crew rest area in the roof of the passenger cabin just behind the cockpit on certain models, it would compliment the Queen perfectly its a masterpiece.Kavan
October 3, 200421 yr Commercial Member Kavan,I think you did indeed misunderstand it. That was only an example from Marc trying to explain that the addition of the MD11 will not slow down the B744 development... At least that's the way I see it.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
October 3, 200421 yr Sorry Markus, have to disagree with you here. To my mind thats pushing the subtlety of a subtle hint. I would be amazed if the next project is not a B777. What a dream that baby will be, B772 ala PMDG. Heaven indeed!
October 3, 200421 yr Commercial Member Ross,I don't want to split hairs here, but Kavan ment BETWEEN the B744 and MD11, and that I think is not going to happen...Anyway, a B777 after the B744 would be a great thing indeed!Markus Markus Burkhard
October 3, 200421 yr Maybe the guys from PMDG could go for a Fokker 70/100? At least that's not a Boeing nor is it an Airbus :-). But I guess there isn't a large demand for that kind of model in the flightsim community, what a pity.Well, I still can hope for a Fokker 50 as a PMDG Express product :-).Greetz! Christian http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/chrismo/sigsky.jpgVacation: wasted time between 2 flights!
October 3, 200421 yr You misunderstood. It was simply a reply to all those complaining that the 747-400 will suffer from hiring new members and adding a new project.
October 3, 200421 yr Can I also remind everyone that the 747 is not out yet and there are still many hours that will be flown on it before production on yet another product will commence. Let's look forward to one thing at a time. :)(says the 744 fanatic)Cheers!
October 3, 200421 yr >Ross,>>I don't want to split hairs here, but Kavan ment BETWEEN the>B744 and MD11, and that I think is not going to happen...>>Anyway, a B777 after the B744 would be a great thing indeed!>>MarkusHi Markus,Looks like I misread the initial question. Yes you are right and I agree with you. Pretty unlikely that the 744 will be released and then another product before the MD-11.Sorry for the confusion.
October 3, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-At PMDG we are proponents of only announcing those products that are actively on the development agenda. There is a trend in the sim development community to announce a list of products that reasonably would take 4-7 years to develop.Currently the primary development focus of this team is the 747-400.During 747-400, Bill and Michael form the core of another team that is building the "guts" of an MD-11.Upon completion of the 744, most of the development team will shift focus to completing the MD11.....During that time a core part of the team will shift focus to building the "guts" of whatever project we decide to do next.... Be it a 777 or a Cessna 150.Thus- we get through the development cycle on each successive product a bit faster because we have core team members who focus on gettign the project off the ground while the reset of the team is focused on the build-out of an existing project....There is a method to the madness! ;-)We appreciate all the comments about what airplanes you would like to see, but please understand that we are really not interested in looking over future products. We have a 747-400 to focus on still- and building an airplane to PMDG standards takes time, energy and FOCUS. Robert S.
