October 13, 200421 yr Hello All,Just a few questions/ideas; I wondered if the exterior model of the 747 will feature new xml effects, like wing flex dependant on lift, boggies that remain parallel with the tarmac etc..... I'd love to see wipers that remove rain in the VC, also a keyboard assignment to select idle reverse thrust would be very useful too.(Can't wait to see some updated screenshots!) ;-)Regards,Paul
October 13, 200421 yr Paul,>keyboard assignment to select idle reverse thrust would be very useful >too. This has been F2 as long as I remember. One quick press on F2 after all engines are at idle (F1) will give you idle reverse thrust. DOes here anyway. ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 13, 200421 yr Perhaps I should explain. After an auto land say, I'd select full reverse. I then get to 70knots or so what should I do? If I select F1 the aircraft seems to jump for as the reverse doors close at high engine rpm. If I press and hold F2 I'll often misjudge it and apply some forward thrust. An "idle reverse" button would be very useful after using max reverse on landing, just while the engines spool down. Hope that clears it up. :-)Cheers,Paul
October 13, 200421 yr Oh ok I see.Well, I am seldom using max reverse thrust. All those noise abatement rules you know. ;-)The reverser doors closing at high RPM is a MSFSism as I recall. I noted this behaviour during beta tests of the NG. Would be interesting to see if the devs can work around it this time.Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member Mats-I think it's a description confusion problem...I think what he means is: Will the reverser animation be full open when the engine is at idel reverse- unlike previous MSFS models that we've done...Answer: Yes.RSR Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
October 13, 200421 yr I just wanted to add:1) I'd really like for my 747-400 to make coffee and iron my shirts... 2) FSUIPC does have a neat feature in the joystick calibration page that lets you use your throttle as a reverser by moving the "0" up from minimum. Since I don't have an "idle detent" on my USB throttle (how I miss my old Thrustmaster gear), I taped a marker on it so I know where my new "0" is. Very good control, unlike the keyboard. The most noticeable impact of this fine control is with the prop reversers on the 1900, but it's very nice on the NG as well.
October 13, 200421 yr Hi Robert,That's not what I meant, about exterior animation of the doors, but it's great to hear about a new feature! :-)Paul
October 13, 200421 yr Also, (another request sorry) can you make it so the joystick throttle position can override the autopilot like real life? i.e. If you hear "Engine Fail!" on the take off roll and instinctively pull the throttles back something actually happens. (Like PIC A320)Cheers,Paul
October 13, 200421 yr Finally, ;-) Will the Fuel Flow increase on the 747 when Max Reverse is selected; unlike the 737?Thanks,Paul
October 13, 200421 yr I'd like to second Paul, it's cool about the animation and all ;)But I too really want to know if we are able to simulate "idle thrust", as of now that is not possible. pressing F2 locks the reversers and then sends up the RPM and there is NO gradual decrease to IDLE RPM before reversers are shut.EDIT: I should actually say, the reversers slam shut as soon as you try to stop the RPM which causes the aircraft to speed up instead of slowing down as soon as that is done. Now to mee animation is no biggie, i care more about the actual simulation of this so we could possibly use reverse thrust at idle. Which would also be usefull for Noise Abatement as Mats pointed out.

(Like PIC A320)On the 737 if you use TOGA (as you should) as the takeoff mode, after the A/T has set the throttles to the N1 selected in the FMC, A/T goes to HOLD, that means that should you move the throttles, the engines will respond. That's exactly what you're saying.
February 16, 200521 yr All of the features sound great, the screen shots are awesome, everything is fantastic, but when are we going to get it?I'm about ready to explode here I am looking so forward to it.:-jumpy
