737 Level Change

Featured Replies

I have FL320 programmed into the FMC as the cruise level. During climb ATC asks me to level off at FL280 so I select 28000 in the altitude select panel, and the a/c levels at FL280. I am then asked to continue my climb to FL320, I reselect 32000 in the altitude select panel but the airplane just sits there at FL280 ? I'm in VNAV by the way. What am I doing wrong please.Glen Coyne

That depents on you styles menu. First I need to know if you have the -800/900 update because if so, it could be that you have selected in the styles menu by AFDS options: Allow VNAV ALT.That means that the aircraft levels off at FL280 and to get the A/C climbing again you have to press ALT INTV.You also can activate the climb with FLCH, if it doesn't start to climb.Hope it helps,

Or simply have the criuse page open then re-set the MCP, this will show up automatically in the CDU then line select to the cruise altitude and EXECU and off yuou go. With ALT INTV simply redial the MCP to a different altitude then push the ALT INTV button and you get the same thing, just do not ever try to LOWER your "cruise altitude" through ALT INTV or you get an early descent.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
