November 7, 200421 yr Is that possible? (I thought it was same thing anyway.)Reason I ask is that the new FO software that's on it's way is going to be for the 800/900 only. FS2Crew is coming shortly. A message on their board says the only reason that the software won't work with the 600/700 series is an alignment problem with some mouse-overs on the 600/700 panel. Terry
November 7, 200421 yr If you have the 800/900 upgrade, there's only one panel for all 4 models, and that's the 800/900 updated panel.
November 7, 200421 yr That's what I was thinking. I just aliased the 800 to the 700 2d. All seemed OK except . . . the plane now rolls at idle. There may be a throttle setting difference related to the weight? Maybe I got it wrong about the mouse-over being the only problem why the new software won't work on the 600/700. Terry
November 7, 200421 yr This is what it says on the FS2Crew forum."The most significant reason why it doesn't work right now with the 600/700 (assuming you own the 800/900 Upgrade) is because the pneaumatic panels between the two don't match up perfectly in terms of layout which means that my FO's mouse clicks don't line up properly on the 600/700. This means that the FO cannot configure the pneaumatic panel by himself, which is unacceptable"Terry
November 7, 200421 yr Commercial Member Word Not Allowed,The panel.cfg files for the 600/700 and 800/900 (assuming you have the 800/900) are not totally identical, otherwise the 6/700 could reference the 8/900 panel.cfg file, which it doesn't.The pneumatic panels between the two are slightly different. Take a close look, you'll see.Cheers,Bryan B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
November 7, 200421 yr Bryan,Then it appears that it's possible to alias the 8/900 panel to the 6/700 aircraft?Terry
November 7, 200421 yr The pneumatic panels between the two variants are different (have a look at the REC AIR switches on them to see). Makes life dificult for a virtual FO.
November 7, 200421 yr Hi Scott,I must not be grasping the situation. If the new software isn't going to work on the 6/700 series panel then why wouldn't it work if you aliased the 8/900 panel to the 6/700. Aside from the AC not having the same exact layout. . . I could live with that.Terry
November 8, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Terry,So essentially you mean use the Overhead Panel for the 800/900 with the 600/700.I see what you mean now.You could do that, I suppose, assuming you've still got the 800/900 upgrade. Why's it so important that you use the 600 or 700?Also, if you do that, make sure you backup your original 600 or 700 panel.cfg first, as an original backup copy for the 6/700 is not included with FS2Crew.Note that PMDG let me modify their panel.cfg and include that panel.cfg in my program. One of the conditions associated with that is that I have to instruct users that if they have any support issues with the NG, that they revert back to the "original" PMDG panel.cfg file before contacting PMDG.It makes total sense: That way they know they're operating "on the same page" so to speak.Cheers,Bryan B. November 8, 200421 yr Hi Bryan,I just like flying the Southwest "Shamu" 600. I see it all the time around KBUR. That's my main ride. I do have the 8/900 addon but rarely fire it up.And actually I was thinking about aliasing the whole 8/900 panel but your thoughts of just bringing over the overhead may be a better idea. Be looking forward to you new program.PS, I have FDC but it doesn't connect well with PMDG key punches.Take care - Terry
