November 17, 200421 yr Is there a way to assign reverse thrust to one of the buttons on my CH control yoke? I see there are all sorts of ways to assign 737 commands to buttons, but in the 737 menu, there is no option to assign "reverse thrust" to anything. Right now I have to use F2. I would rather assign reverse thrust to a joystick (in this case, control yoke) button.ThanksChris Catalano
November 17, 200421 yr I know you can also takeoff Num lock and hold down # 3 that will work as well but i'd like to know too if there is a way on the control yoke???
November 17, 200421 yr I assigned it to my CH Yoke. It's the left red button that you can't see on mine. I assigned it to F2, keep pressing it more than once and it'll reverse thrust. So I land, press another red button for spoiler deployment, prior to nose wheel touching (I see a lot of pilots deploy spiolers before nose wheels are down), then as soon as front wheel is down (my throttle is already idle on the console), I press the red button assigned to F2 and then keep pressing it until I'm full reverser.I also did it in MSFS, not that CH control utility. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
November 17, 200421 yr Hi:I am using FUSPIC and for the life of me cannot get my CH yoke mixture knob to operate in reverse (I've given up after many hours of wasted time). What I use is the right hand side CH yoke red button (actually on the yoke). I mapped this button to the decrease throttle in the standard FS9 commands (not the incremental decrease). After touchdown and spoiler deployment I push the button and presto. To stop the reversers you advance the throttle a tad and they stop. I like it. Hope this helps.......Iain
November 17, 200421 yr Author I understand the concept of mapping it to the CH yoke - but I don't see HOW to do it - where in FS9 do I do this? When I look at all my assignments, I don't even see anything that has a reverse thrust command (F2) LISTED, so how can I edit it from the list? I don't see it there to edit. I would love to assign it to the little red button on the left, but I don;t know how to actually map it as such since reverse thrust doesn;t show up as something I can edit in the list of assignable commands. Thanks for the help.Chris Catalano
November 17, 200421 yr You can CAN program the mixture axis as a reverser in fsuipc, just read the instructions, (tho' not especially clear).Other option is to set the throttle idle position to a few mm above the stop, again using fsuipc. Problem here is you need to put a reference mark on the yoke to ensure you can hit idle exactly. Would be better if there was a physical detent, suppose the engineers among you might succeed here?
November 17, 200421 yr Iain and Chris:I've had my mixture lever on the CH YOke control my reverse thrust since FS2000. Pete Dowdson made a modification to his program way back then to accomodate this. You do not have to go into the CH control program or FS. Just go into the FSUIUPC module and over to assignments/calibrations. Calibrate your throttle, make sure you leave some dead space to ensure you are completely at idle. Then, I think it's the 7th page where you calibrate the mixer lever to operate your reversers. Works great.
November 18, 200421 yr Author I guess you need a registered version of FSUIPC to do this? Is there a way to achieve my goal & program this without FSUIPC (or at least a registered version)?Chris Catalano
November 18, 200421 yr Author >I also did it in MSFS, not that CH control utility. Can you tell me exactly HOW you did this in MSFS? I can't find any listing for reverse thrust in the keyboard assignments, thus I can't edit F2 to be assigned to the control yoke - in fact, I don't even know how I ever figured out F2 was reverse thrust perhaps it is just something I read in the main manual. I even checked the PMDG menu in FS9 & looked inder keyboard commands - it is not even listed there!
November 18, 200421 yr Yes you do need a registered copy to do it. As for doing it directly in FS you can't do it using an axis but you can assign a button to act as the F2 key.
November 18, 200421 yr Author >but you can assign a button to act as the F2 key.Can you explain how to do this? I thought that I could only edit the commands that were already in FS9 - I did not know I can "invent" new key strokes that are not listed in the list of assignments. How can I assign a button to act as the F2 key? Thanks so much!Chris Catalano
November 18, 200421 yr Chris, try this.Select Options from the FS Menu barThen select ControlsThen AssignmentsIn the event category box select engine commands. Now scroll down to Decrease Throttle Quickly. You will see that it is controlled by keyboard F2Click on Change Assignment. Now you can click on a Joystick or Yoke button to assign it. Make sure it's not used by some other command. FS will tell you if it is.Click ok and close the assignment window. Now load up a jet, push and hold the button and it should invoke your reversers. Good luck.
November 18, 200421 yr HI Iain here;As Lamont stated, go to the options tab (read his mail above). If you have opened this already and cannot find the command, then I suggest you;1. Check to make sute that the dropdowne box says CH yoke and NOT CH peddles. You can change this using the small arrow feaure in the box. Set it to CH yoke.2. When you select the commands ensure you highlight/select the ENGINE commands. You may actually only be seeing the other commands. If you cannot find the engine commands, then select ALL commands in the drop down box. Then scroll down until you see decrease throttle quickly. Then highlight this and hit the reselect key. FS9 will probably say that this command is already in use. Ignore this and press change command, followed by pushing the samll red button. Then save. I'm pretty sure this is the methodology. Follow your nose and it should work. Oh and reboot FS9.As for FUCPIC and the reverser page 7/8. I tried that several times with no success. I have a registered copy, but it just never works. I gave up long ago & use the little red button. basically I was wasting hours of my precious flying time..Hope all this helps you..............Iain
