airac database load takes forever

Featured Replies

after i changed video card it takes 7 minutes instead of 50 seconds like before, why is this happening.

Joe,I assume you are talking abut the download from http://www.navdata.atI just downloaded that took only a few seconds. It is strange that a new video card would cause a problem with downloads. Sorry I have no idea, except that I do know that when downloading weather from Active Sky it makes a difference if fs9 is a window or minimized.

Joe-The AIRAC database load for the FMC is a function that has no relation whatsoever to your video card....If a change in cards is triggering what appears to be a long load, I'd suggest taking a good hard look at your drivers and the health of your card. It sounds to me like something related to that change is hauling your system to it's knees....Items that would effect the database load:->Loss of physical memory on the machine (did you knock a simm out of the bracket while loading that card?)->Overflowing read/writes to your hard drive MIGHT result in the behavior you are seeing- but their cause would be a mysetery...-> Something about the new card filling available memory? Bad drivers? At any rate- your system should not have a problem loading the database with a new video card...they are unrelated functions.
