February 4, 200620 yr It is basically the runway heading. If you go to airnav.com and look up the airport you will get the frequesncy and heading info for each runway in the USMike
February 4, 200620 yr Why does the FMS expect us to enter a course for a Localizer?I can understand VOR freq and a radial.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 5, 200620 yr "Why does the FMS expect us to enter a course for a Localizer?"To help the aircraft intercept the beam. Sometimes Loc beam deviation is not enough information for the A/P to work with.BTW, most ILS's are autotuned for you when you programme your arrival in the FMC. Manual tuning is only required if the runway is not in the FMC's database or if the FMC's have failed. If both FMC's (computers, not CDU's), you have to manually enter the ILS frequency/course, manually, in all 3 MCDU's (real aircraft)Cheers.Q>
