CDT problems

OK, here is a problem that I thought might had been freeware scenery, but after testing I don't think it is. Maybe you can help me narrow it down.Flights affected:KLAX - RPLL Freeware scenery at RPLLKSFO - WMKK Freeware scenery at WMKKLOWW - ESSA Freeware scenery at ESSAI have had the same problem at other places, just can't remember now.I reach T/D and descend down to the FL twenties and suddenly I just get a CDT.I use Active Sky 2004, FSReal Time current version (paid), FS Flight Keeper (current Version), FSUIPC (current), FSNAV (for the mapping and viewing only).Could this be a problem with loaded custom SID/STAR files from NAVDATA.AT? Could this be a FSUIPC problem? Could this be a problem with the Queen, in general. Could be SID/STAR issues (do you get unknown rwy message in the FMC), and also could be an AFCAD. I had 100% guaranteed errors on descent into EGLL (UK2000 payware), but that would happen at 500 AGL usually, or if parked for 4 hours or more on the ground. I got tired of troubleshooting, and reinstalled the sim with all of the mesh, UT, and BEV, and a select number of free and payware sceneries. I also only reinstalled 3-4 payware aircraft. If I don't fly'em regularly, I don't need'em. Do you have UK2000 scenery, or maybe OSS, or Aerosoft? Is LOWW the FlyTampa version, or default? Check that you don't have duplicate AFCADS for any of your airports. What I started doing is, if the sim is running stable and well for an extended period of time (several weeks), before I add anything new, I do a backup on my storage HDD. If after installing the new stuff it starts bugging out, I just restore the backup, and stay happy. Since the F is coming this weekend, you best be on the ball and fix this little gremlin! :)-----------------------------------------Sergey Kireyevhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg http://bav.vatools.com/pilotinfo.php?pid=0...b744&vid=958937

Wilson-If you are running V1.10, then I would suspect the problem is not the Queen... and more likely one of the scenery/AFCAD areas. From release date to now, we have a few thousand hours of testing involving our own rigs and all of our beta testers- and we just haven't seen anything to substantiate the airplane being a trigger. (We'd see it, because we've tried to duplicate just about every user CTD scenario we could find.)The only time we were able to trigger a CTD was when reproducing Paul Solk's demonstration on differences between AFCAD airport names and NAVDATA airport names. (You'll recall his very long post/discussion that followed.)In that case- I do not yet believe it's the navdata that is an issue because the FMC reads the provided text files and operates internally- it does not compare data with the MSFS BGL/AFCADs- so in theory it really doesn't care what is recorded there. This leaves me suspecting that there is an issue with naming conventions between the AFCADs/BGLs....if you do find something- come back and sqawk about it here so that we can all gain some benefit from it!

I just don't fly in or out of those airports with the queen, sadly. I guess the answer here on this is the next navdata. I use UK2000 as well, and with Gatwick, too.>I got tired of troubleshooting, and reinstalled>the sim with all of the mesh, UT, and BEV, and a select number>of free and payware sceneries. Check that>you don't have duplicate AFCADS for any of your airports.Answer: Yessir, I run all FSGenesis stuff, don't know what BEV is, and I run the afore mentioned UK2K stuff. All FlyTampa stuff is installed, however LOWW is hard to do an approach as the dang ILS radios are damaged in the scenery and I can't get it to work. In regards to the multiple AFCADs, I just checked and I had many multiples and I have now deleted them. >What I started doing is, if the sim is running stable and well>for an extended period of time (several weeks), before I add>anything new, I do a backup on my storage HDD. Only contention there is my LDS install is on it's last install and the note I got from the auth server was I was going to have to contact Flight1 if I reinstalled. Just some other problem to work with. :(ThanksWilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

>Wilson->>If you are running V1.10, then I would suspect the problem is>not the Queen... and more likely one of the scenery/AFCAD>areas.Answer: 1.10 it is The only reason I said I thought it WASN'T the scenery, especially at WMKK was because it was still at FL250 and prolly 50 miles out. The WMKK I am using is the "Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA Version 2.00" as found on AVSIM here: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=rootI never have had a problem with it before, either. But, when you do a search in AFCAD it comes up with four afcads in the folder, one normal with taxi and parkings and the other three are just blanks with a cross hair in the middle. I deleted the others and left the one with the data. We shall see, but for now I am about 1 hour out of KSEA from KPHL just doing a short one. I can't wait for the F to come on out!Wilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Hi Wilson, In my experince it is usually Afcads that are to blame. But I must add recently I had a problem and it was not my Afcads. After some serious investigating it turned out that the FS9 Config was and can easily be corrupted. So I took out the FS9 Config let flight sim rebuild a new one reset Flight sim defaults ran it and problem solved. Went back to FS9 Config file and copied the new good version and placed into a folder. Now once a week for preventitive purposes I do a new copy of my good FS9 config and swap it with last weeks FS9 config so I always have a good backup available. Especially handy when adding something new to Flight sim. Hope this helps.Cheers

Hi Robert,Could you clarify something for me?. You say that you all were able to trigger a CTD when reproducing Paul Solk's demonstration on differences between AFCAD airport names and NAVDATA airport names. this implies that these differences matter and can result in CTD's.But then you go on to say that you do not believe it's the nav data that is an issue. This implies that the CTD's were not "cured" by matching the AFCAD and NAVDATA airport names, which conflicts with Paul's findings.I've been plagued by an inordinate number of CTD's (no error messages at all, FS just disappears) and have been editing the nav data files to match the AFCAD airport names in the hopes of at least reducing the chance for a CTD. Have you all found that this is a waste of time? Thanks,Don S.

Just a quick note here. Anytime I can find a navdata.at custom SID/STAR for an airport that is greater in kb size than the one in the PMDG folder I accept it. The idea is greater size equals more information, ie. approaches, transitions, ect. Sometimes you load up a SID or STAR for a complex airport, like EGLL or WMKK and the text in the FMC sometimes jumbles together. Is this a problem?Wilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png
