April 2, 200620 yr Hi all,I've got a question about the sound audible in the cockpit when the spoilers deploy upon landing. For those who don't know what i'm talking about its the file PMDG747_spdbrk.wav in the soundpmdg747400 folder. What is it actually that we hear, is it the mechanical operated lever or something? Is that why it is only audible upon landing or aborted takeoff when reversing thrust and not e.g. by fully deploying the spoilers manually?Greets,Jeroen
April 2, 200620 yr It is the auto-spoiler/speed brake servo/motor moving the lever to the extended position, therefore you won't hear this if you manually operate the spoilers/speed brake in-flight. Alaister Kay
April 3, 200620 yr It's highly unlikely you would hear any spoiler sounds on landing because of the thrust reverser, and wheel and brake sounds on rollout. Especially up in the cockpit.
April 3, 200620 yr I've seen many 747 cockpit videos in which the sound of the aforementioned spoiler handle servo is quite audible - perhaps because it kicks in immediately upon touchdown, before reverse or braking starts.regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
