Briefing Packages Revisted

Featured Replies

I thought I would put this out since I had a couple folks send me briefing packages and give me some ideas. I have written a post over at the TOPCAT forum here: http://topcat.ofplan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57#57In this post I describe my process that I go through in pre-trip planning every flight in the PMDG cockpit, no matter the type (747 or 737). I have a link to a pdf file which is my last flight's Briefing Package. I print these out every single flight, as paper is more convienient and I can write on it. http://wilsonhines.com/files/WRRRTOKLAX.PDF Your comments are welcome. I like to see what other people do, as well.In the real world briefing package that I have been given, there is more information there that I do intend on implimenting, I just haven't quite gotten that far, but I am moving in that direction.ThanksWilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

I rather use a separate Laptop to save all this paperwork :-hah

I stated the delivery method in the post over at TOPCAT's forum and I linked to it from the post above."I have written a post over at the TOPCAT forum here: http://topcat.ofplan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57#57 "Thanks,Wilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

>I rather use a separate Laptop to save all this paperwork>:-hahDon't knock it, 'till you try it. ')Actually I have two laptops and they are both tied in with the fs computer via wideFS and running respective programs tied in with FS. I use the documentation to have "one source" of information. If I didn't coallate this information into one MS Word document, I would be scrambling through four or five different programs and sources for the info. So, a printout OR a computer screen with the information in one package is best, thus it is called a "Briefing Package."Wilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Very nice Wilson I think Is a great idea. All I use is ASV6 which gives me weather and conditions of flight(temp at diferent levels, winds aloft,metars,etc.... at every waypoint.

Hey there,Yessir, I have and use ASWX 2004. I am thinking of upgrading to the current AS software, I just don't know what advantages it can give me. After all, it generates the weather and my version does that, right? Anyway, as I said here (http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=136&topic_id=109032&mesg_id=109205&page=)I will sometimes print out the wx log for each station point along my route to make sure I don't either get to high to quick or stay loo low too long. I keep my entire briefing package in a three ring binder for the flight at hand, including my page 5 and 7 from the cruise and planning manual (02) printed on one sheet.>Very nice Wilson I think Is a great idea. I guess it would be almost like a word processor, only that it would have custom fields and the ability to get the wx and information of the such. If anybody has the programming skills to help and is interested please contact me at [email protected] HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Nice job. For those who are interested, I would like to point out that some VAs provide a service like this. Globe Cargo, for example has has rather hadny Dispatch Generator that contains some of this info, and also creates routing as well. Obviously this is not for everyone, since you have to be a member to use it, but I just thought I would throw it out there.Andrew

You mean something like this? www.vdispatch.ca ;-)Nice work btw.Cheers,

Absolutly! I have to do a ton of paperwork today for my rw vocation, however when I get back in the saddle Friday I will check that site out in great detail. Maybe I could offer tips out of what my experience has been. But, yes, this is on the mark from what I have seen.Anyway, I am off 'till tomorrow or Friday.Talk to you guys later!>You mean something like this? www.vdispatch.ca ;-)>>Nice work btw.>>Cheers,Wilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png
