July 26, 200223 yr Great that it all works, then, Bill. Tell me, any problems with slew controls? That's the one thing that appears to have gone doolally on me recently, but it may be something else entirely.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 26, 200223 yr Mark,You described it right below."That's the one thing that appears to have gone doolally on me recently, but it may be something else entirely."I have the same problem when I switch to slewing. I don't know where or who can help with this. Since I don't use slewing I had never seen it. But the map approach I use above to address the throttle issue has the same slewing problem.Regards!Bill
July 26, 200223 yr Author Hi Mark,I haven't done anything with slew either, but I noticed in that snippet from your .CFG file you don't show a "JOYSTICK_SLEW" section (it looks like another JOYSTICK_MAIN section). When you go to the Control Assignment dialog in FS, there are a pair of buttons at the top marked "Normal Flight" and "Slew Mode". Selecting Slew Mode brings up a whole new group of assignments, maybe you need to set it up in there.- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
July 27, 200223 yr Thanks. However, by default you end up with JOYSTICK SLEW and KEYBOARD SLEW. Surely, JOYSTICK SLEW (or YOKE, whatever) only needs to be enabled if you want to USE the stick/yoke to slew.Anyway, I'm still going sideways faster than the speed of light when I slew. Not that I do, often, as it happens, but it's a little disconcerting when gently pushing back at Heathrow to suddenly find yourself in Timbuctoo carving up flea markets.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 27, 200223 yr Author Well, I played with it a little this evening with just a stick and about the only thing I can find that affects the slew rate is the aileron/elevator sensitivity. If I have that set at 50%, I get a maximum slew of something around 1200 kts. If I set it to 100%, it will go to 32767 kts, but it's still quite controllable with the stick.I'm wondering, though, if it's not a matter of clearing the slew assignments for the pedals. If the slew side of Joystick 2 is still running under the Default settings, then the toe brakes might very well be generating full right and full back slew since they're the X and Y axes on CM Device 2. I'll have to set it all up tomorrow and give it a try.- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
July 28, 200223 yr Author Hi Mark,Okay. I got it set up and found the same problem you reported. It is the default slew assignments that cause the problem, you need to move them around on both of the Control Manager devices.First, on the Yoke (CM Device 1) you need to clear the "Yaw" assignment. It defaults to what's normally the rudder axis which is the Prop Lever (or maybe Mixture, I never can keep them straight) on the 3-lever yoke. In any case, clear the "Yaw" assignment on CM Device 1.For the slew settings on CM Device 2, you need to clear the X and Y axes as those are the toe brakes and will keep moving you back and right when the pedals are released. Then you need to assign the "Yaw" to the Z axis so the pedals will rotate the aircraft. After doing that, it seems to be doing what it should. The rudder pedals rotate the aircraft, the stick moves things forward, back, left, and right. And when you let go of everything it stops as it should.- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
